Police nab 3 over alleged kidnapping in Ondo



POLICE in Ondo State have arrested three persons in connection with the kidnapping of a 40-year-old wife of a popular politician, Mrs Yewande Olaiya, in the hilly town of  Idanre, Ondo State.


The suspects, according to state Police command, include Akintayo Gboyega, Dickson Ossai, and Usang Usang.

They were arrested by police detectives, Wednesday evening, at their hideout in Akure.

Acting on tip-off, the police detectives rescued the victim who was held hostage inside a building in the metropolis.

Mrs Olaiya was abducted at her residence on Surulere Street, Odode Idanre, Monday, by three gun-wielding kidnappers.

She was driven to an unknown destination in an unregistered  green colour Toyota car.

The kidnappers, according to investigation, contacted the family, Tuesday, demanding  a N5million ransom.

Speaking with Vanguard the State Police image maker, Wole Ogodo, said that luck ran out of the hoodlums when detectives traced them to a building in Akure and arrested them.

He said they were picked up by officers and men of the special Anti Robbery Squad.

Ogodo said that the suspects will be prosecuted if found culpable.
He appealed to members of the public to always assist the police with information that will help to curb the nefarious activities of the criminals.

The image maker however said that the command will make the state unbearable for criminally minded people that may want to affect the peace of the state.

Ogodo added that those arrested for kidnapping in the last one month would soon be arraigned in court after a thorough investigation by the Police
