Patience Jonathan not sick again — Presidency

The Presidency on Tuesday described a media report that President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience, was sick again as “absolutely untrue and only a wicked expectation that God has already defeated.”

Mrs. Jonathan’s spokesman, Mr. Ayo Osinlu, said this in a statement while reacting to a news item by an online news medium, Saharareporters, that the President’s wife was dropped from her husband’s delegation on scheduled state visits to Namibia and South Africa.

According to Osinlu, because Mrs. Jonathan is not a government official, she is not under any obligation to accompany her husband on every foreign trip.

He said the couple was at liberty to determine which trips they would make together.

He recalled that the President’s wife played active roles in the National Conference on 100 years of the Nigerian Woman, which she hosted as a component of the country’s centenary celebration in Lagos between April 18 and 19, this year.

He added that she also presided at the inauguration of the Nigerian Prisons Staff School, built in Abuja by the Prisons Officers’ Wives Association Last Friday.

Osinlu stated further that the President’s wife was alreadyv billed to be the keynote speaker at the scheduled ‘Religious, Traditional and Adolescents Leaders Conference’ in Sierra Leone next week, as part of the inauguration of the National Strategy for the Prevention of Teenage Pregnancy.

He said it did not appear that someone on such a tight schedule could be experiencing deteriorating health or had been under close medical observation, as the report insinuated.

He said, “We wish to state emphatically that the report is absolutely untrue and a creation of the wicked expectations of Sahara Reporters and those who pay their bills.

  2. May The Lord if host show patience Jonathan mercy, may the burden of death be taken away from her shoulder. May God forgive you all sins and make your heart steadfast in His love. A thousand shall fall by your side, ten thousands by your right hand and it shall not come near you. May those who wish you evil feed on their evil and you shall find God's vindication. Just remain righteous and know that there is nothing you have come to the world with and will also go with nothing.

  3. I wonder why people should be happy to announce the calamities of their fellow man. I also wonder why people in the guise of being a spokesman or woman, will come out to deny issues they know is correct. In other countries, the Govt always come out to tell their citizens when their leaders are not healthy and will be giving updates about such illness. But for this corrupt infested nation, the leaders always hide( because they are used to hiding stolen money) it when even the President is dying! Shrouding every thing in secrecy. I pray she gets well soonest to shame her enemies. At the same time, if the report is false, why is the Govt not arresting the reporter and arraigning him/her to court for publishing and giving false imformaion to the nation?
