British Prime Minister David Cameron on
Thursday said “nothing in Islam justifies this dreadful attack” which
left a soldier dead in London.
Cameron who cut short his trip to Paris, addressed at a news conference on the extremist attack carried out by two men near a military barrack in Woolwich South east London on Wednesday.
He said terrorism had taken the lives of
more Muslims than any other religion, while expressing UK’s
commitment to remain resolute in its stand against violent extremism and
terrorism.
“The people who did this were trying to divide us but they should know that something like this will only make us stronger.
“It is not just an attack on Britain and the British way of life but a betrayal of Islam.
“There is no justification for this act, and the fault lies solely and purely with those responsible, ” Cameron said.
He urged the public not to be deterred by the incident saying, “one of the best ways to defeat terrorism is to go about
our normal lives.”
