The National Chairman of Labour Party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu has criticised Nigerians, especially, those in political circle for being disrespectful to President Goodluck Jonathan, noting that the president was the most abused ever in the history of the country.
Chief Nwanyanwu who made the remarks while receiving the leadership of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, led by its Chairman, Dr. Yunusha Tanko and Secretary, Comrade Peter Ameh at the party’s national secretariat, expressed concern that Nigerians could freely abused Dr. Jonathan not minding that the office he is holding is the highest in the land.
Nwanyanwu who was agonised by the development, said people should respect the office of Mr. President even if they don’t agree with the leadership style of the person occupying the office.
According to him, “Nigeria is practising the presidential system of government; we borrowed the system from the United States of America, USA. When President Barack Obama was re-elected President of America, there were little skirmish here and there but all these fiddled out when he was inaugurated.
“Since no American citizen has insulted Obama, but here in Nigeria, since inception of office, Jonathan is the most abused and criticised President and still continue to be.
The party chairman who charged the IPAC leaders to bring into play the mandate of the organisation by ensuring that politicians abide by the code of the conduct by desisting from blackmailing and insulting political office holders in the land.
Nwanyanwu said “we have to move from the name calling which is dominating our political life. Notwithstanding that so many people from different political platform are seeking for the same office, we must abide by the code of conduct of the game so that there won’t be violence.
He said this new leadership of IPAC must try to ensure that all registered political parties in Nigeria come together to talk of ways of helping the nation to confront some of the challenges like the unemployment, problems of transport, with a view to moving the nation forward.
In his remarks earlier, Chairman of IPAC, Dr. Yunusha Tanko urged political parties and politicians to be focused on issue based while campaigning for electoral offices instead of name calling and blackmail.
He said the organisation has concluded plans to convene all political summit at the end of the ongoing familiarisation tour of national offices all the registered parties.
He said, after these visits, the organisation will also embark on tour of State Chapters of all the parties with a view to taking the code of conduct to their domains. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

I think den don give u small change. Nonsense.
ReplyDeleteLol! Its not your fault at all, if you were in the position of those hurling abusive word at Mr. President, you will know exactly and obviously what they feel in them. So Mr. Please don't criticize the people of the Nation, let Mr. President rectify the unbalance situation on ground...
ReplyDeleteNobody is perfect u also can found urself in that position one day as u do to ur fellow men it shall also be surely do unto you...we need prayer not critisizing...if jonathan were to be ur father or relatives will u critise him? One day u can be in that position u must surely reap all what u have done in the past so be warned
ReplyDeleteGod is not mocked, whatsoever a man Soweth, that shall he also reap.Galatians 6:7 ( it will soon be your turn ) criticizing mr President or abusing him is not the solution to Nigeria problem.
ReplyDeletePresident Jonathan inherited the problem he is facing from the past leaders, but bcs Jonathan did not understand.' politrics'.But he will soon get over it.
Jonathan is being insulted by every the useless politicians and even past leaders themselves, because he is not a murderer and believes in the right of every Nigerian! Some of these people insulting the President won't dare it if that seats were still being occupied by Buhari, Babangida, Abacha, or is it Obasanjo, who never forgives any perceived enemy? But not to worry, Nigerians will see the difference when Jonathan is gone!
ReplyDeleteAnyamaa...we should actually stop critizing political appointees and there offices. GEJ is our elected president and should Accord due respect.
ReplyDeleteEmmy, you are right with your words but your grammer aint right.
It is very bad for people to abuse the president. You can criticize him positively and not to pull him down. It is because he is a God fearing president that is why he is being abused and criticized. The truth is that it is the Northern politicians that are making things difficult for him in order to ease him out of office so that they will come in and continue their "God-given" leadership and "birthright" rulership of Nigeria. That is why they indirectly ushered in Boko Haram. But now they are not finding it easy on Boko Haram. That is why they now turn back to ask for amnesty for Boko Haram. They think we are fools.
ReplyDeleteI love jonathan. I don't care wat any body say's about him.they only want to fustrate him.but God pass them!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBut GEJ is our president and no matter how best he is people will still insult him.
ReplyDeleteNot only him, but it is just a normal thing. For instance your Oga in the office you and your colleagues abusing him on a daily basis and as soon as he shows you start praising him; doing eye service.
Police people, Army people, Custom etc abusing their bosses daily but they pretend and offer salute as soon as he appears.
Check the net in UK, USA etc you see citizens abusing their leaders and that is why he is a leader.
I see nothing wrong there, even people abusing Governors, Senators, etc on daily basis.
OBJ received abuses when he was in the office therefore, it is a normal thing for leaders.
GEJ, he is our president and we love him but we must abuse him and that is the reason why he is still there as Nija presido. If he lives the office today honestly the abuse would no longer be there.
If I get there tomorrow, belief me abuses are there waiting for me because it a normal thing, therefore, please don't feel pains Gani Falana.
