Arrest me and Nigeria will be history, Asari Dokubo dares IG of Police, House of Reps

Angered by the arrest calls that trailed his comment, Monday, that peace will elude Nigeria if President Goodluck Jonathan is not returned in 2015, the Niger Delta frontline Activist and Leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari has dared the House of Representatives and the security agencies to arrest him if they can muster the courage to do so even as the former Governor of old Anambra state, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife opined that arrests should start with people who had made similar
comments in the past.

Asari who is the former President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) also said that any attempt to arrest him will mark the end of Nigeria and called the authorities coward if eventually the threat of his arrest was not affected.

Speaking in a Press Conference in Abuja Thursday, Asari said he does not bat an eyelid over his previous comment on 2015, stressing that he stands by his words that there will be no peace in the country if Jonathan is not re-elected for a second term in office in 2015.

His words: “I stand by my statement which I made in my early press conference, there will be no peace, not only in the Niger Delta, but everywhere, if Goodluck Jonathan is not president by 2015, and I want to add that the Fulanis, who migrated and invaded our lands and continue to show disregard and disrespect to the owners of the country they came into, and people have tolerated them for a very long time will no longer continue.”

The former President of Ijaw Youth Council  also added that any attempt to arrest him would make Nigeria “a history”, asking why those calling for his arrest turned deaf ears when some northern leaders like former Military Head of State Maj.-Gen Mohamadu Buhari, Alhaji Lawal Kaita and a former member of the House of Representatives, Farouk Aliyu, among others.

“I want to refresh your memories with comments made by these northerners, who had in the time past threatened war and break-up of Nigeria.

“In 2010, one Lawal Kaita said and I quote: ‘Anything short of a Northern President is tantamount to stealing our Presidency. Jonathan has to go and he will go. Even if he uses the incumbency power to get his nomination on the platform of the PDP, he would be frustrated out…The North is determined, if that happens, to make the country ungovernable for President Goodluck Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power on the platform of the PDP against the principle of the party’s zoning policy’.

“Today insurgent groups, in furtherance to Kaita’s call a’re wreaking havoc, attacking military barracks and seizing weapon, but we will not sit and watch. Kaita made this statement, nobody arrested or call for the arrest of this fellow,  today he is walking free.

“Buhari made this statement in 2011, he was never arrested and nobody ever called for his arrest. In other countries, former leaders are being tried, but here, a man who overthrew a legitimate government, continues to threaten us with blood and nothing has happened.”

He added, “I am not afraid of arrest. I am saying it bold and clear without mincing  words, that the consequences of my arrest, Nigeria will be history.
“The last time Obasanjo arrested me, my arrest reduced Nigeria oil production to 700,000 barrels per day.  This time, it will reduce it to zero barrel, and we will match violence with violence, intrigues with intrigues. We are ready for them. Goodluck Jonathan will complete his tenure of two terms, whether they like it or not.

“I am daring them to arrest me if they can. If they don’t, they are cowards and shame on them.”

  11. GEJ abroget Oil block because the proceeds are used to fun Boko Haran in the North and purchase sophisticated weapons to kill innocent people.
It is better, the Northerner return to North and worship their God b/cos they have funished killing the southerners in the North. Instead of occupying the South pretending to belong to one Nigeria-evil race in Nigeria

  12. No body will arest U, Asari, if the Reps and Northern leader insinuate that Let them first arest Buhari that said Nigeria will be ungovernable if he looses an election since he made that statement CPC attack and kill innocent Youth corpers from South who were serving at Northern Nigeria and followed by BOKO HARAN causing insecurity in the country today.Secondly, arrest Babagida and OBJ who have dared FG severally and nothing is done. No National Constitutional conference will resolve this problem By 2015 there will be no more one Nigeria rather two Nigeria( Northern and Southern Nigeria)-Do not say I told U.

  13. U will only be foolish if u say Buhari made the same statement. Buhari did not make the same statement as made by this illiterate. He was warning againts rigging which is the very ill that brought GEJ into power. If his election is not rigged and looses, there will be no problem. But this foolish ijaw man is saying if GEJ is not 're-elected', there ll be no peace. This is a threat to voters and not to riggers as said by Buhari so it shouldn't be taken with bread.

    ReplyDelete
  14. If u are not an illiterate, u will be able to read in between the lines of the two statements-Buhari's and asari's and see the difference. Buhari made an intelligent statement based on facts that's why the FG did not and can not arrest or hold him responsible ever. Asari is just a foolish illiterate militant that can't be compared to the General.

  19. Please let Nigeria be divided into how many, I don't care. we have all tried been one Nigeria for 50smthn years and it didn't work. instead of all these killings everyday, the northerners should just own their own country and rule themselves. taking of human lives is just like killing chicken to them! folks think about it!

  20. If everybody has equal right then everybody can make similar statement n get arrested or not. To some extent I see a sense in what Asari is sayin. D intimidation on GEJ is almost gettin out of hand. He shld be givin a fair judgment. Nigeria tday will be difficult for any Nigerian to rule cuz we compromise a lot as Nigerians. I thnk d best is for Nigeria is disintegration cuz d north n south hav proved to be of different people. Unless dis is achieved dis problem will continue. May God help Nigeria.

  21. we all need to be sincere, buhari, started it all...lets call a spade a spade...if you see the tactics, with which these so called leaders used, you would see they just want to fault GEJ administration, and has taken too too far... lets all tread carefully... Asari is only angry....

  26. The Problem with our Nigerians is that we always attack persons instead of attacking the issues at stake. The Northern Nigerians who had occupied most of Nigerian leadership position had never meant well for this country and have always felt that leadership is their birth right. Everybody knows that they are all out to frustrate GEJ. Mr. Asari is only warning against using force to unseat our president not threatening. Also people should stop insulting the office of the president because their tribal persons are not occupying the exalted position. When it is time for GEJ to leave, he will surely leave but those that are ready to battle with him in 2015 should go and do their home work instead of propaganda and causing more harm to the battered country.

  34. What is he feeling like, he must be very stupid for making such utterance. A president that is not moving the nation forward does not deserve a second term. am sure the naijadeltans are teeming up, another group for disaster in this country. they started it, and it seems thats what the threat is all about.

  35. Tempers flaring, words flying like daggers, air thick with threats, a highly volatile and supercharged situation and in my little experience there is just two possible solution to situations as this. You wanna know?

  36. Well to me Buhari did not make an intelligent speach, he's speech was not as different as what Asari had said. A threat is a threat. Pls leave Asari alone.

  37. till now nobody has ever mention or quote word to word What Gen BUHARI said, only to blackmail him just because PDP has no opponent bigger than him. No amount of blackmail will defeat him this time around. Buhari say no to corruption, election rigging and resistance to both, he said vote , stand and let your vote be counted, make sure what is counted is what is announced. he never advocated killing or violence anywhere. if there is please quote for record. If you can discipline yourself about wealth and women you will definitely be like BUHARI. Many govt has tried to nail him, but he has no bad record hence only blackmail. it is all over for PDP and their Boko haram.

  39. Should the issue of 2015 come up now? NO. Has GEJ fulfilled the promises he made to Nigerians? NO. These Politicians, are they fighting for Nigerians or for their pockets? For their pockets. Is it not patriotic leaders that should place their people's interest first? It is. Will a sensitive government place more burden on their suffering masses? NO. This is not time for sentiment, its time to fight against all the evil forces in Nigeria, all our leaders have failed us. THAT IS OUR PROBLEM

  51. Who says our problem is our leaders?
Guys let's be sincere, with all these comments I can see that Nigerians (I mean the governed), we are our problem, because these sentiments are exactly the reasons why our leaders have always succeeded while failing us.
How can U call someone an iliterate when u r one? Our leaders know that the only weapon that will destroy them is our unity, and that is why each time they give us something to make us battle ourselves, and like cats and dogs we follow.
BH will destroy any country it belongs to, so they are enemies of Nigeria and not North alone.
Greedy insurgents are everywhere, call it militants, Mend, BakaSsi, or those in the west. And these are tools that the politicians have always used to divide us and cause chaos in the country.
In my opinion, even the division of this country cannever solve the problem of any quota, but only our unity can. So let's stop quarelling, this is our time, let's not allow them to use sentiments to fool us in 2015, being patriotic means a lot, it starts from ur home. All Nigerians are one and we can only triumph if we begin to see our brothers' problems as ours'
May God (in His Infinite Mercies) bless Nigeria and give us the knowledge and understanding to defeat the enemy! Ameen.

  52. killings of the innocents in the north by the northerners did not start with GEJ administration. You remember kano civil crises of 1990, Bauchi crisis of 1991. Muslim fundamentalists, at the slightest provocation- even when they are not provoked by fellow Nigerians-take to violence and kill fellow Nigerians. When US rolled their amour tanks to overthrow sadam Hussein, it sparked off violence in some part of the north. Someone elsewhere outside Nigeria would make unpleasant remark against Islam, they would take knife and cut someone's throat in Nigeria. I suggest the convocation of sovereign National Conference. Two cannot work together except they agree.
