THERE was a mild drama at the premises of an Ikeja Magistrate Court, Monday, when a 21- year-old woman, Esther Odozi, a farmer, rolled on the ground and screamed that she and her children were at the verge of dying from hunger.
Odozi, who said she lives in Owanta village in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, came to Lagos last week and because she didn’t have anywhere to sleep, slept at Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries where she begged for money to come to the old secretariat in Ikeja.
She said she was directed by an official of Human Rights Commission in her state to come to Lagos that she would get help.
According to her, she needed N200,000 for garri and melon business and would not leave Lagos until she got the money for the business.
Odozi who said she bore the five children to one Donald Ugbaja, a former police officer in Delta State, said she was left alone to shoulder the responsibility of taking care of the children including twins after his death.
Odozi who brought out her breasts to demonstrate that she still had a child she was nursing, said she didn’t have any means to feed herself and her children. She said if the Governor of Lagos State could give her N200,000, she would start business with it.
Asked if she would like to be trained in any skill, she said no, adding that she just needs the money to start the business of garri and melon.
She appealed to the Federal Government and well-meaning Nigerians to come to her aid, adding that she started having children when she was only 17 years old and that the father of her children drove her out after she had the fifth child. ReplyDeleteAs much as I sympathise with her the more suspicious I get earlier according to the story the father of her five children a police officer is dead then in conclusion he drove her out, which one shoul we believe? Moreover this clearly shows re lapses of the the government, what's the purpose of the ministry of youth and social welfare, Enof funds are kept aside for such purposes but what do we see, the curropt politicians do sharing formular. Also she claims she was at mountain of fire, what's the purpose of the church's as charity organisations, I this not part of their duty to help the needy? Smh

ReplyDeleteI felt for this woman cos, this is what many Nigerians are passing through while they die in silence. As much as some people believe this is false or through, I think her option is better off stealing. While sympathize with her, I wish I can see her or have her account to assist in my own little way. How I wish am in Lagos, I will drive her to TB Joshua Church. God will send her help from here she least expect. To those commenting nonsense, I pray that God touch their hrt. Shola Anes.
ReplyDeleteI would have love to belief her story but the inconsistence in her story makes it really suspicious. She started raising at age 17 and at 21, she already had 5 children within 4yrs, hw come? Also she said the husband is died but later he drove her out, Is it from the grave?
Thirdly she does not want to acquire skill rather her interest is on the money.
