Two unknown gunmen on Thursday shot a middle aged woman, Mrs. Elizabeth Obio, and escaped with her two years old son.
The incident occurred around 6:07pm along Ikot Obio Nko in Ibesikpo/Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Obo, who is now in her hospital bed in the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo, is seeking the assistance of security operatives and public spirited individuals to help recover her son.
Lamenting her ordeal to our correspondent on Saturday, she said the little boy that was stolen from her would have turned three years in September.
She said the men who left her with the misery came on a motorbike and urgently began dragging the boy with her and because she refused to let go the boy, who was her third child, one of the mebrought out a gun and shot her at the back.
She said, “We came back from the farm on Thursday evening and wanted to go the stream with my husband. My third child (the boy) insisted he must come with us. I said he shouldn’t, but because he was crying seriously, the father said we should take him since we were going on a motorbike.
“So when we got to a hilly area where the motorcycle could not continue, my husband dropped us and asked us to move towards the stream that he will

“While we were going, two men on a motorbike suddenly blocked us and immediately began struggling to get my child from me.
“I struggled with them, but one of them brought out a gun and shot me at the back. I became unconscious and they left with my son.”
Obio explained that she has no idea of anybody who could have wished her family such a bad luck because they are a peaceful people and contented with the little they have.
She stated that the police had come to the hospital to take statement from her. She noted she did not know if her child has not been killed.
“The police came here and took statement from me. I wonder if that my son has not been killed. They should just help bring back my son to me, please”, the woman appealed.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Etim Dickson, said he was going to call the Divisional Police Officer of the area to brief him on the development. He promised to get back to our correspondent to brief him on the situation.
