Three feared dead as container falls off truck

No fewer than three persons were feared dead, Tuesday, when a container fell off an articulated truck along Apapa/Oshodi expressway and landed on commuters waiting for buses at Otto-Wharf bus-stop, killing three of them. Others reportedly sustained injuries.

According to reports, the driver of the truck with number plate XG 616 UWN attempted to overtake a vehicle at the bus-stop, at about 2.30pm, and suddenly the empty container fell off, landing on unsuspecting commuters.

When Vanguard arrived the scene, a Federal Road Safety Corps official who identified himself simply as Chigbo said the truck driver was on high speed and could not control it when he got to the bus-stop.

The driver of a car and two other persons waiting to board buses to their respective destinations, according to him, were affected, adding that the container was removed and the victims rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

  2. lagos state government should look into this container cases. its high time they move at night, all these careless death is not worth it. we are talkg of human lives.
