Ahead of 2015 presidential election, moves are going on among members of the proposed party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), to throw their weight behind former Kano State governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, as a likely standard bearer for the party’s presidential candidature.
According to a strong reliable source who preferred anonymity said, the game plan was that the party was searching for a sellable material for the post of presidential candidate that would give whoever emerged from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as its presidential candidate come 2015 a good fight.
The source said that though the former Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) standard bearer in 2011, General Muhammed Buhari, was being talked to on the need to step aside from contesting the 2015 presidential election, former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu was equally told to rally round a known and sellable candidate if they were determined to edge out the ruling party in 2015.
Our source hinted that recently Senator Tinubu was alleged to be brokering peace between General Buhari and Mallam Shekarau, saying there was need for them to put their house in order so as to make the APC a formidable force ahead of 2015.
The alleged peace meeting was said to have held at one of Senator Tinubu’s houses in Abuja. Though only Mallam Shekarau was said to have attended the meeting, General Buhari was represented by one of his loyalists.
