This issue of exorbitant school fees is really getting out of hand and it's time the Federal Government call our Christian private universities to order.
How much does an average graduate earn in the workplace in Nigeria today that you will ask parents to pay as high as N3million per session for their children to get a degree?
And how much will he or she earn after spending so much on a first degree?
NE gathered that some of the students are scared of protesting in school, because of the fear of getting expelled, so they took to the social media, Facebook, Twitter to vent.
Speaking with NigerianEYE a 200lvl student of Mass Communication (names withheld) had this to say, 'I am a student of babcock university(mass communication) I am going to 200lvl next semester and my school fees amounts to #747,300 as opposed to #584,000. Babcock university is not a university, it is a family business. We have the VC,VCs wife is director of ventures,VCs brother is director of transport...so what are we saying? Last semester 10 tear rubber prado jeeps were bought for some of the staffs. With whose money?' She asked rhetorically
See details of the new fees from Babcock University below:
From next session students who want to continue their education with Babcock will pay the following:
(1) Medicine - N3million
(2) Law - N2million
(3) Accounting - N1.5million
(4) Nursing - N1million
(5) Others - N860,000What Do You Think? Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

ReplyDeleteThis is outrageous!!! What are they teaching them? Rather than spending such huge amount on my child's education in Babcock, I will rather send him to study in UK or Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely not inline with promoting quality education, but extorting and imposing foreseen hardship to parents who are merely paying their child(ren)tuition. One could see the root cause, failure in public school system in Nigeria. Professors and instructors selling handouts and seeking to sleep with students for exchange of better grades, bribery and corruption across all spectrum.
ReplyDeleteFuckmmmmd school....it should by closed down...by d federal government
ReplyDeleteWat kind of school is dat....it should by closed down...by d federal government.......
ReplyDeleteThis is too bad, where are we going in this conutry.nigeria GOD HAVE MARCY
ReplyDeleteDis rubbish, absolute nonsence! What are they teaching them? There certificate can not even get you anywhere in the western countries. Better study abroad and get the value of your money in the near future. Parents be wise!
ReplyDeleteMasses,What do we think nigeria govt. Can do about this exorbitant charges , the owners of these schools are chronic of FG. Pls let discuss matter of interest.
ReplyDeleteThis is Nigeria. An average student and poor student cannot afford their textbooks talkless of School fees. The effect is that the employer of labour are waiting for them to fix them up.Federal and State Universities are in a cooler.NUC keeps looking.God help us.
ReplyDeleteIt is outrageous, i think the school authorities should be called to order by the government.
ReplyDeleteHmmmn wat a business for the VC and his family
ReplyDeleteGood or bad,we should not forget the fact that it is a private institution hence it can fix its own
ReplyDeleteFees, rules and regulations(T&C).afterall there are other universities that are cheaper, this is where choice comes in.....whoever wants their services will have to adhere .Private institutions abroad are also expensive.
Preposterous and insane. Do they think people pluck money.
ReplyDeleteThese schools should be investigated and invited to the NUC to defend their unreasonable position of tuition fees. NUC should check this private institutions
Absolute Greed.
We've not heard from the school, so the figures can still be disputed. But, did they force anyone to attend Babcock University? There are 124 other universities across the country, can't they get admission there? You already know that it's a private university before you applied. There are government universities everywhere, they charge extremely low fees cause government subsidizes higher education massively in Nigeria. Go to Malaysia and UK and leave Babcock alone. If that's what they can charge to make ends meet, why not go elsewhere if you cannot afford it?
ReplyDeleteIgnorance can kill, we all should wise up. why will i want to school in nigeria private universities? when i can afford a lot of school in europe and asian that are very cheap with high standard.
ReplyDeleteLook cyprus international university, turkish republic of northern cyprus. is less than #800k and u can pay 8 instalement. they speak english and turkish. they have high techology and highly recognise in the world.for further info: www.ciu.edu.tr or call 08033786970 if you need any advise. Segnium educational services
My middle finger for Babcock. Wht r u teachin dem? Hw to shave a cock's hair? Fuck U!
ReplyDeleteAbsolute ribbish. I'd rather study at Havard or Howard and have some change in my pocket, even with quality education.
ReplyDeleteI'm a graduate of the above school.y should the student complain, when they have given the school authority that previledge .students of babcock are receivin what dey asked for.so y lamenting.are u lukin for the latest technology, fashion, currency if dia are any,den student got it.d authority is capitaizin on the fact that dia student are sayin dey are rich even when we know that many wants to belong and are not.for Godsake BU student should stop complainin and fix their wrong first, den d authority will know is not a business centre.
ReplyDeleteNa wa o! Them force u go there? If their fees are too high why not leave and go to a less expensive university? Wonderful! As if that's the only university on earth! Let those that can afford it stay.
ReplyDeleteThey end up giving 1st class and 2 class upper, that is what they are paying for
ReplyDeletePeople should know that the fees include meals.
