  2. My friend, it is a big deal. This is to show that whatever you determine to achieve you can achieve. You speak English (probably Nigerian English) as a necessity, from childhood; she speaks Yoruba as an interest. Without English no global business can really survive on this planet. Yoruba, Spanish, Swahili or Hindi are not so. Did you see "Kayode" playing "Omele" drums? Is it not wonderful?

  4. Wether as an interest or a neccessity it takes effort to be proficient in the use of any language though languages are easier learnt as a kid. So all who speak multiple languages should be appreciated even if the language is an african one. We africans are too quick to look down on our achievements but easily celebrate the same in outsiders that perform same way. If a Spanish national by reason of living in certain parts of the world can speak also french and english languages, we quickly join the world to celebrate him/her as multiliguistic. But if a Togolese or Nigerian who lived in Nigeria/Togo/Cameroun can speak English,French and 2 or more local languages that are not his/her nativity, we see no big deal in the same. It is high time we drop our often too common self-depreciating attitude and learn to celebrate fellow nationals as well other people from other nations. That Nigerians can speak english fluently is as much a feat as foreigners being able to seak any Nigerian language. After all what then will be the basis of the many expensive Use of English/language tests imposed on us when we plan to study or work in their countries if it were so easy? Or are Nigerian indigenous languages culturally inferior. English is Nigeria's official language not mother tongue. This is the balance.
