A 20-year old man, Ibrahim Sanni Mai-Gunjo, arraigned before a magistrate's court, Ilorin, Kwara state capital, northcentral Nigeria, for allegedly killing his father with a machete, has been remanded at Mandala Federal Prison, Ilorin on the order of Magistrate J.O. Michael.
The accused, who hails from Woro Fulani Camp near Kaiama, Kaiama local government area of the state, had allegedly accused his father of being a drunkard as a result of which he murdered him.
Mai-Gunjo said the attitude of his father was bringing shame to the family.
The accused, who was arraigned on a one-count charge of culpable homicide, had on 31 March allegedly waylaid his father who was on his way to the farm and butchered him.
Police First Information Report, FIR, on the matter stated that investigation conducted at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Ilorin, revealed that the accused attacked his father with cutlass in the presence of his younger brother, who was unable to rescue their father.
The case was adjourned till 13 May for further mention.
