KILLINGS IN THE NORTH: Igbos return home - Abia Gov

FOLLOWING the incessant killing if Ndi Igbo in some parts of the North, Abia State governor, Theodore Orji, has advised Igbo resident in that part of the country to come home if they were no longer wanted by their host communities.

Governor Orji’s position was prompted by the latest motor park bombing in Kano which caused the death of scores of Ndi Igbo.

According to him, if Ndigbo are continuously being killed in the North, it meant that they were not accepted and the best option for them was to think home where their safety was guaranteed.
He said: “No sane person will continue living in an atmosphere where his life is at stake.”

He pointed out that home remained the most comfortable place for anyone whose life was in danger.
Governor Orji also spoke on the death of Prof. Chinua Achebe, saying though he was a respected Igbo son, his death had not created political leadership vacuum for Ndi Igbo because he was not a political leader of Ndi Igbo but a literary icon.

The governor maintained that Ndi Igbo still had leaders but noted that the problem of Ndigbo was who to galvanise the rest of the people and give them focus.

Orji, however, said that if Ndigbo could choose a credible leader and rally round him, the region would forge ahead.

  1. Fine the igbos who have their lives threatened in the north should return back home. However, wat enabling environment exists in the states of origin? Abia state has nothing to boast off, umuahia is not amusing and aba is in a very irritable state. Governor Orji should tell us what his administration is doing to better the lives of Abians and make Abis really look like God's own state. Please take a leaf from other state governors even Peter Obi is doing very much better.

  2. Ochendo ndi Abia,we are solidly behind you no matter the view of anybody because they are not affected,i for person couldnt farthorm the reason while every attack is focused on Igbo people whether is because we have refused to stay in our place to do our business, pls other governors should do their best to toll the line of Abia state governor, they(our brothers)should come back home since they have overstayed their welcome in the sensibility of the Northerners

  3. It is very simple to ask Ndigbo to come home but it is an uphill task to rehabilitate them here in the East when millions of people in Abia are suffering. Salaries are paid for one month after owing for three or four months. Local govt workers cannot pay school fees for their children or pay house rent because of not paying salaries as at and when due. Even if they are given salaries, it will not be a complete salary. Let the Abia State govt change its style. I agree that all Ndigbo in the North should come home but what happens to the Northerners in the East? They should also go and give room for Ndigbo when they come back. If not, why are we talking of one Nigeria when other sections would be free to live anywhere while others are not free to live in their own so called country. That should be a lopsided arrangement or agreement. Our leaders should come together and arrange Nigeria the way we all want it to be since we are not one in the real sense of it.

  6. This is the only good talk from you since assumption in office! The igbo man who still resides in the North is as foolish as the people killing them! Whether enabling environment or not, when they come home, they will survive. Pls, leave Northern states NOW! Remember 1966. Don't be deceived when anyone is promising you " protection of life and Property". You will discover that promise to be a farce only when your head is dangling on some grinning blood dripping danshikin wearing killers shouting jihad. Its upto you.

  7. Death Speaks:
There was a merchant in Baghdad who sent his servant to market to buy provisions and in a little while the servant came back, white and trembling, and said, Master, just now when I was in the marketplace I was jostled by a woman in the crowd and when I turned I saw it was Death that jostled me. She looked at me and made a threatening gesture, now, lend me your horse, and I will ride away from this city and avoid my fate. I will go to Samarra and there Death will not find me.
The merchant lent him his horse, and the servant mounted it, and he dug his spurs in its flanks and as fast as the horse
    could gallop he went.

Then the merchant went down to the marketplace and he saw me standing in the crowd and he
came to me and said, Why did you make a threatening gesture to my servant when you saw him this morning? That was not a threatening gesture, I said, it was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see
him in Baghdad, for I had an appointment with him tonight in Samarra.

Dear governor you should know that death is inevitable
