Governor Seidu Dakingari of Kebbi State has said that the new Kebbi International Airport in Birnin Kebbi will be ready for commissioning in August this year.

Dakingari disclosed this while taking the National Good Governance Team round the airport in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi state capital.

He said the development is in line with his determination to open up the state for investors and help the people, mostly farmers, have less difficulty in exporting their farm produce. The governor said that he was confident that the airport, when completed would serve as a big boost to the tourism potentials of the state and create thousands of jobs to the teaming unemployed youths, saying that the ongoing upgrade of the airport was approved by the Federal Ministry of Aviation.

Dakingari said that the airport which is currently being used as an air strip would be upgraded to an international status and would help in alleviating the suffering of indigenes of the state going on pilgrimage to holy lands as from November this year. He said the contract was awarded in August 2011 at the cost of N13.5 billion.

Zonal Manager of the firm handling the project, Jiang Wei, said work had already reached 85 per cent completion and promised that the project would be delivered on schedule as the state government had fully mobilized the company for completion of the project in order to meet the deadline.

  1. There we go again, farmers who are hadly able to transport their good by road to open markets because of the financial implication, will now be able to move their goods by air.

It would have been more rewarding to construct very good durable roads and opeen access to all farming communities.

Ha Ha Ha !!!, What a government

I think these people should stop deceiving our people
