League of Imams in North-Central zone of the country on Tuesday expressed support for amnesty for the Boko Haram sect to reduce the surge of violence in the northern region.
This is contained in a communique signed by the forum’s Protem Chairman, Sheikh Umar Faruk. It urged the Federal Government to listen to suggestions on the matter by drawing up amnesty for the sect members. The league, however, condemned the killing of innocent people across the northern region by members of the sect. It described the sect’s act as anti-Islam, barbaric and counterproductive.
“The forum condemns all forms of violence and killing of innocent souls across the country on daily basis by any group.’’
“No religion preaches manslaughter, bloodshed and killing of fellow human beings on earth without recourse to court process.” The league also called on the authorities to end the arbitrary arrest, intimidation and extra-judicial killings of innocent religious leaders in its fight against the insurgents.
It also wants the government to strengthen shari’ah legal system and its institution, to ensure strict compliance to its provisions aimed at curbing immorality in the society. The forum condemned indecent dressing by some girls, unrestricted mixing of boys and girls in public and private schools and called for better orientation for students and education administrators. Are these people not the bokoharam themselves? Are they not the ones that confuse a child right from childhood telling them that anybody that is not a muslim is a kaferi. They tell them to throw stones to strangers bc they are not wearing hijab.repent
ReplyDeleteFederal govt didnt say they are not giving amnesty.F.G said that they should come out and have representatives before dialogue and amnesty follows.Any way, bokoharams primary objective was to cause mayhem and be rewarded with huge ammount of money, but its not working for them
ReplyDeleteIf questions can be asked, then let the clerics tell us who and where members of Boko haram learnt the doctrine of violence that has brought us here today. I learnt that Islam is a religion of peace!!!
ReplyDeleteThese Imans or whatever name they are called, knows the truth but are deliberatingly twisting the truth because they don't want their masses to know the truth! The Government has NOT REFUSED TO GIVE BOKO HARAM AMNESTY,but has asked them to come out, like the Niger Delta militants did, and negotiate the terms or their minds. You are showing the world your true colours when you ask the Government to drawn up an amnesty programme for Boko Haram without any one representing the group or the groups' input. Pls. tell your people the truth. Or else you never know were the next attack will be...yes, your children or relatives could be where the next bomb will explode! You can stop it now.
ReplyDeleteOooooo now i see,so that is why you people want a northern muslim as President at all cost so he can endorse your wishes and demands at all cost, too bad cause as long as the KING of kings,Jehova overdo is on the throne and rules the world,u guys would have to take several back seats cos that wount happen.Abacha died trying to Islamise Nigeria,Abdulsalam Abubakar lasted 1yr as head of State and had no oppurtunity to do so,Yar'adua died before he would have been subjected to do so and Buhari tried but failed in the election....so you people should see and know that FAILURE is ur portion and that is whhat it would alwys be.Death and Failure would alwys be the End result of who eve tries.
