I’ll not disappoint Nigerians – Buhari

Former Head of State and Congress for Progressive Change presidential candidate in the 2011 presidential election, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has said he will not disappoint Nigerians if given the mandate to lead in 2015.

He also promised to transform the country positively.

Addressing the CPC North-West zone Contact and Mobilisation Committee in Kaduna on Wednesday, the former military leader insisted the elections of 2003, 2007 and that of 2011, lacked fairness and credibility.

Buhari, who said this had resulted in Nigeria’s poor development, pointed out that the Peoples Democratic Party had almost ruined the country.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to support the opposition parties merger initiative to wrest power from PDP.

National Coordinator of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee, Senator Solomon Ewuga, said the meeting was to sensitise party members on the planned merger.

He called for their support in order to ensure that the proposed merger becomes a reality.

  5. What happened to the General's vow that 2012 was his last attempt. Why should we believe what he is saying when he can go back on a vow he made. What did he forget in the president's office that he wants to go back for? He should groom a younger believeable candidate instead, and go and be the elder statesman he should be.

  6. Dear Gen Buhari, in my own candid opinion, this is not time for electioneering campaign. The country has been massively hit by crisis coming from Boko Haram, and you have been seriously accused of being a major sponsor of the Boko Haram Sect. I would suggest that you go in and find a way to talk to the leaders of the Sect to stop this dastardly act, then you can come out and seek the peoples mandate. A lot of people had been killed and these are members of one family or the other. Would you expect these poeple whose loved ones had been killed or maimed for life to start talking of election or coming to vote for YOU now that the tension is high. PLEASE A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE. GO IN AND DO A THOROUGH CLEANSING, BEFORE YOU SEEK PEOPLES MANDATE.

  9. You all the anti-Buhari commentators are senseless and lack knowledge of many things. You are all hypocrites, full of tribalism, and lack any easonable ideas to help this country. NE must practice not to publish some of these nonsensical comments that only help to create hatred among us Nigerians.

  11. Hmmmm, what can I say? It's so sad that people can just comment on issues with proper reasoning and out of ignorance. Buhari is a law abiding citizen of Nigeria, he has no affliction with Boko Haram. I strongly believe in him to fight corruption, most of you voted for GEJ with all your wisdom and intellectual what's the gain? CURRUPTION. We need to look beyond religion and tribe in order to move Nigeria forward. I want to challenge you all to come forward with evidence that Buhari sponsor BH. If you don't know something be humble enough to ask and seek knowledge, the Bible says my people perish for lack of knowledge. Security vote is the main reason why BH still exists today. Come 2015 if Buhari contest for elections he will definitely have my vote.

  14. Dear Buhari, the menace of bokoharam intensified the minute Jonathan was declared winner. Yes I was in kaduna at d time, yes I was also harrassed by a mob and nearly beaten to death, was even threatened. Guess wat?I was serving my father land at d time, and my offence was me refusing to hand over ballot papers to the youths who u wanted to rig d election. You have had your chance at being president,we dnt need you to come back again. Every one who has rules this country should cover their faces in shame at what they have contributed to smearing our great nation's name (that includes you buhari) enough is enough of empty promises. And campaign propaganda, ask for forgiveness&crawl into your hole to lick your wounds. Blood on your hands&every other sponsor of bokoharam.
