Edo crash victims to get mass burial

The luxury bus involved a multiple accident, at Ugbogui, along Benin-Ore Expressway... on Saturday
Authorities of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, on Monday, said victims of last Friday’s accident on the Ore-Benin Expressway would be given mass burial.

The hospital management, in a statement, said it was “left with no other options but to give the victims mass burial.”

It said, “It is not in the best interest of the hospital and its immediate environs to continue to keep such bodies.”

No fewer than 50 persons died on Friday in the accident that involved a luxury bus, a trailer belonging to Dangote Industries and a fuel tanker.

Meanwhile, Governor Adams Oshiomhole has decried the wanton loss of lives and property on the road and called on the Federal Government to speed up rehabilitation to stem the tide.

Condoling with families of victims, the governor appealed to other motorists and other road users to abide by traffic rules and regulations.

The governor, in a message by his Chief Press Secretary, Peter Okhiria, said unnecessary loss of lives on the road could be averted.
