"What A Disgrace From 2 Face, Wizkid, D'banj, Iyanya, Davido, Terry G And The Rest"

Honestly am not against Nigerian artists, but have you noticed or listened to there rhymes? all they talk about is money, women, sex, party, life on the fast lane and non educational or inspiring stuffs.

We used to think music is a way of expressing ones feelings, That's what our musical teacher told us back then in school, and I believed because of the inspiring and motivational song from king sony ade,bob marley, lucky dube, fela kuti and the rest.

But now it seems people wants to make money than expressing themselves, everybody sings about the fast lane but hardly about the hustle that got them to the fast lane, that could motivate people.
Every Nigerian child (those with access to the tv or radio), will be singing all the dirt coming from this artists song corrupting there mind (so bad). for instance you see a two year boy, singing and shouting 'i need the koko' or u see a girl singing 'bottom belle'

It's just a shame if you turn to soundcity now, 99.9% of the music played is always about sex, money, cars, women, parties etc. none is ever educational.

Maybe the are all trying to sell there products, move along with the market ,unlike fela kuti, king sony ade, micheal jackson, lucky dube, bob marley, mozart and the rest, those are music that never dies, even till the next decade, unlike zacky aze, tony tetula, edris abdulkareem, mr cool, sisqo, rugged man and lots of them, you see the way they all faded?

That's because their songs have no weight, just music that comes and goes.
You will agree with me that music is beginning to loose its value.

  2. My Anonymous 5:09, please be factual in ur expressions. Its not all about making money, its about d meaning and d impact of their songs on d younger generation. Making it big, if at all they make it big, is not d issue. Music is suppose to stand d taste of time.

  4. I'm been worried too with kind of songs we have these days. Its Polluting and corruptin and the videos are just another way of Pollutin the environment with their stupid talks called Lyrics which most times dosen't make sense and are unrealistic to accomplish. I think what we have now are noise and lazy musicians runnin after money. It will fade away soon. I give my Respect to Timi Dakolo, Asa and ecetera. I'm sure most pple dn't value good music but noise.

  6. In a short sentence - moral decadence has eaten deep into our society. Music or movies produced by Nigerians serve no useful purpose to the young ones.

  8. There is something called options in life so I advise u guys take advantage of them ie instead of allowing d above mentioned musicians teach ur children morals, u teach them urself & mk d impact, instead of listening to their music, sing ur own or shut ur ears. I also know there are stations dat only play religious tunes so y watch sound city? All d religion we practise in nigeria, how far has it taken us? Clearly u people are missing d point!how many of u have ever bought a religious music CD b4?just asking?

  11. We have different music artists. No one is forcing you to listen, we all have choices, we can choose what ever music we want to listen to. So if u don't like der kind of music why tune in to soundcity? I don't listen to their type of music and so do not bother checking those stations. Stop critisizing.

  12. I actually thought I was the only young person remaining who gets pissed with all the noise makers around. Thank God I found a place where I can listen to edifying music and still have so much fun.

  13. I actually thought I was the only one getting totally pissed by all the noise around. Anyways, I'm glad I discovered a radio station where I can listen to edifying songs and still have so much fun. However, for those saying "do not criticize", if things like this are not stated, they will not wake up and put in more effort in what they are doing. Remember we have a generation coming up, who we will not want to tow this same road.

  14. Mr Daniel Okoro as much as I agree with you I think you should not put 2face with the bunch. If you have listened to 2face's albums u would realise he has actually sang a lot of songs dat are inspiring like Only me, Fly, E be like say, See me so, One love and international collabos wit R.kelly and oda african artrist for the song Across the world and also when that African boy was murdered in the US. Those artist u mentioned as being the ones nig artists should emulate also had their fair share of fun songs. But I say yes, artist in nig should make music that everyone no matter the age can enjoy. Most of what we hear is money, girls, fame, more money. Its okay but its becoming a trend.

  15. I'm sure Anonymous 7:09 & Anonymous 7:30 are Nigerian ladies 'cause today's music is all about them & their desires...must eat the man's sweat where they never sowed a thing.
    Bitches. Whores.

  17. A very generalised statement made by the writer. Tu Face must be set apart. Go and listen to his songs Sir and you will realise what a creative and impactful fellow he is. I guess you only listen to the road side beats and tunes... Like I have mentioned earlier, go and get his album as he is the only one I can vouch for from the names mentioned. And like someone else mentioned, you have the benefit of alternatives in music.

  18. I really do fear for our children. I can't imagine d legacy we are leaving behind. When I think about it, fear grips me. God help us if all our children will grow up to hear is "all I want is your waist" and "Go down low". God I hate this songs!
