POLICE in Delta State shot dead two members of a three-man armed robbery gang, which laid siege, Tuesday, to the Eku/Aghalokpe Road in Ethiope East Local Government Area.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, confirmed the killing of the two bandits to Vanguard when contacted, yesterday.
Vanguard gathered that the hoodlums were barricading the road with a Simba motorcycle without a plate number, when a police team, codenamed Dragon 12, which was on patrol together with Dragon Monitor One, ran into them at about 1.50 pm.
The bandits opened fire on the police team and the team returned fire for fire, gunning down two of them, while one escaped.
At the end of battle, the team searched the scene and recovered one cut to size locally made singly barrel gun, one live cartridge and the Simba motorcycle.
A police source confirmed the corpses of the deceased bandits were deposited in the mortuary of General Hospital, Orerokpe for post mortem examination.
