Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasir El-Rufai has accused the Federal Government of wanting the Boko Haram insurgency to continue for selfish reasons.
Speaking on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Mr El-Rufai faulted President Goodluck Jonathan’s statement suggesting that members of the Boko Haram group are ghosts.
He said, “over a thousand Boko Haram operatives are in the custody of the SSS here in Abuja,” hence the Government cannot claim to not know who the terrorists are. He added that he knows the government has a lot of information about the Islamist group.
“What is lacking is the will to address this issue. I think the government just wants this to continue because it is profitable for the security agencies to have huge budgets, most of which is stolen.” He said.
The former minister also said that the government which has over time requested the help of people such as himself, the Sultan of Sokoto and the Borno Elder’s Council, in talking to the extremist group has also accused them of being ‘Boko Haram Sympathisers.’

Nigerians, take note of those kind of people making animal noice. They are not qualify to hold a post in Nigeria again. The fact is that they lack home training.Tell me is that how you do settle problems in your house? The president should ask him to bring them for a meeting to negotiate about the amnesty. The niger delta came out,sat under cameras therefore those of you agitating for amnesty be ready to bring them.Beware that they may face trials for all crimes commited against inoncent nigerians.

DeleteAnyway, it is unfortunate that these unrepentant Northerners have consistently refused to accept the fact that this Boko Haram was created by the Aggrieved Northern politicians who were bent in destroying the political fortune of Mr. Goodluck Jonathan. The problem they created are now consuming themselves and they are coming out pointing accusing fingers. They that created the Boko Haram should find a means of resolving the security issues it has posed to this great Nation. They should know that this Nation belongs to all of us not the North or the South alone. All hands should be on deck to resolve this menace because it is affecting everybody. A time will come whereby this will go out of hand and then it will be inevitable to seek for International assistance but then our sovereignty as a Nation had been compromised. So please let us stop pointing accusing fingers but timely find a solution to this intractable challenge staring everybody on the face.
