Chelsea have forced an FA Cup quarterfinal replay against Manchester United after coming from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Old Trafford in Manchester.
After being knocked out of the Champions League to Real Madrid earlier in the week and quelling any potential treble-winning hopes, Manchester United set about beating Chelsea with a vengeance when Javier Hernandez put United ahead after 11 minutes.
A fantastic clipped ball over the top of the defence from Michael Carrick saw Hernandez lose his marker in the box and put a looping header into the back of the net.
Wayne Rooney, who has been under plenty of transfer speculation this week, then doubled United’s lead when Chelsea were caught short at the back.
His free-kick, a seemingly harmless ball to the back post, managed to creep inside Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech’s post.
The win seemed to be all but sealed at the half with United enjoying near dominance during the game but Chelsea sub Eden Hazard’s wonderfully struck curler to the top corner gave the Blues a way back in to the match.
Ramires then pulled off the unthinkable and levelled just past the half hour mark after cutting inside Jonny Evans and passing the ball past an outstretched David De Gea to force the replay.
