Two police constables were at the weekend shot dead in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was gathered that the two constables, whose identities are yet to be disclosed were shot when suspected robbers attacked the Naija Plaza Hotel in Oguta.
A witness told NE yesterday in Owerri that the robbers killed the two police officers and took away their rifles.
It was further gathered that the robbers also carted away an undisclosed amount of money from the hotel.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr.Vitalis Onugu, confirmed the incident to reporters. He said the armed robbers, who were in army uniform, stormed the hotel to attack the Managing Director, but were accosted by the two police officers.
He said the armed robbers, after shooting the policemen, abducted the MD and took him to an unknown destination.
He added that investigation has commenced to unravel the perpetrators of the act.
