Okada Rider Rapes Woman

A commercial motorcycle operator has been arrested by the police and charged to Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping a female passanger at Igando area Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

The motorcycle operator, also known as Okada rider, Michael Oshinbanjo, was charged with rape of a 20-year old woman who rode on his motorcycle to a pharmaceutical store in the area.

P.M.NEWS learnt that Oshinbanjo allegedly lured the victim, who used to patronise him, to his house at 26, Atoke Olusanya Street, Igando New Town, Lagos.

She alleged that on their way to her destination, the Okada rider veered off to his house and lured her into his room.

She said she did not suspect foul play until she entered his room where he quickly locked the door and started beating her.

According to the victim, when she shouted and attempted to escape, the Okada rider over powered her, threw her on his bed and tied her hands and mouth before tearing her underpants and raping her.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the victim was later rushed to a hospital where she is being treated.

The matter was reported to the police at Igando division and he was arrested and arraigned in court.
The prosecutor, ASP Nicholas Atumonye, objected to his bail on the ground that if he was granted bail, it would send a wrong signal to the society because of the gravity of the offence.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs M. B. Folami, denied him bail and ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri Prisons.

She adjourned the matter till 13 March 2013. On his way to prison, Oshibanjo told our reporter that ‘it was devil that pushed him to rape her.’

He confirmed that the victim was his customer and said he had pleaded with her and her parents to settle the matter out of court.

  2. In as much as all acts of rape should be seriously dealt with, my sincere sympathy only goes to young and innocent victims who are too naive to sense any foul play, who are either lured or forced to the spot of the despicable act. I will not waste a single ounce of sympathy on an irresponsible female adult who boarded an okada, rode willingly to the mans house droppped in front of his house, and walked into the mans room. To do what? A more responsible woman who is dumb enough to follow the okada man to his house, accepting his lies about wanting to pick something at home, should be wise enough to remain outside. Perharps they wanted to search for that 'thing' together.

  3. Men must learn to avoid trouble with women cos they are very dangerous and are destiny killers. Rape is bad just as illicit sex is bad. I refuse to believe that the Okada rider lured her to his house as she claimed. There must be a kind of intimacy between them b4 this ugly day. The lady may have been milking him under the guise of customer customer relationship and giving the poor boy false hope until this day when the guy opt for force to have his own pound of flesh. How can you be on ur way to your destination and the cyclist took a different direction and you did not object until you got into his room and still did not shout upto the time when he tied your arms and leg as if you are a toddler and then started beating you b4 you shout for help. There is more to it than the girl and her family claimed. However, rape is rape and this guy is in for real trouble. STAY AWAY FROM WOMEN IF YOU WANT TO FULFIL YOUR DESTINY. DONT EVEN BE NICE TO THEM COS YOU WILL PAY FOR IT DEARLY. IF YOU NEED TO BE NICE TO WOMEN, CONCENTRATE ON YOUR MOTHER, SISTERS AND OTHER FEMALE RELATIONS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, YOUR WIFE. DONT EVEN GIVE THEM LIFT. IF YOU CANT HELP BEEN NICE TO THEM, IT SHOULD BE GLARING AND OPEN SO THAT YOU WONT ENTER TROUBLE AS A RESULT. A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE. Dont think am a women hater. Am only been realistic and speaking from the experience of others.

  4. Any sound lawyer can easily defend this guy. Was force used on the way to his house and unto the bedroom? What is the age difference between them since no dangerous weapon was used? I beleive girls are trying to abuse the issue of rape these days.

  5. This is no case at all! The lady had been deriving some benefits from the poor guy without giving him anything in return. On this fateful day, the lady followed the guy to his place hoping to get some goodies as usual, but the guy denied her. Feeling bad about it, the lady decided to frame up the poor guy! I rest my case! KJoe
