Kogi Governor Returns To Office After 60 Days In Hospital

The Governor of Kogi State, Idris Wada, has returned to Lokoja, the state capital after spending about 60 days in a hospital in Abuja, following a motor accident, which led to him sustaining varying degrees of injuries and the death of his then Aide-de-Camp (ADC).

Arriving Lokoja at about in a long motorcade, accompanied by his wife, Alima, his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, Mr. Wada was received at the Jamata bridge end of the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway, by an enthusiastic crowd.

Addressing the crowd at the gate of the Lugard Hall Lodge, in Lokoja, the governor expressed appreciation to the people of the state for their show of support and love towards him and his administration during the period he was convalescing in Abuja.

“I am back on my two feet now, looking forward to work and move forward our state to the next level,” he said.

The governor added: “My own dear people, let me express my deepest and sincere appreciation to God and you people for your prayers. God has indeed heard your prayers.
Let me assure you all that I shall dedicate myself totally to the services of the state.”

Speaking at the occasion, the chairman of the Kogi State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hassan Sallauh, commended the Deputy Governor, Mr. Awoniyi for keeping faith with the governor and the party by holding forth while the governor was away.

He said the deputy governor had shown exemplary courage, candour and loyalty by his responsible conduct during the period.
