Attack On Emir Of Kano: Police Parade Seven Suspects + VIDEO CLIP after the attack


The police in Kano State today paraded seven persons arrested in connection with last month’s attack on the convoy of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.

They also identified the suicide bomber responsible for the crime to have been one Idris Talba of Borno State who had lived in Kano.




Several persons, including Alhaji Bayero’s personal driver, orderly and a guard, were killed, and two of his sons were injured. According to a News Agency of Nigeria report monitored in New York today, the royal father, who was flown to London following the attack, was visited there yesterday by Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Ibrahim Idris, the Kano State Police commissioner who announced the arrests, described to reporters the events since the assault, including the full mobilization of the State’s security apparatus.
“The area was cordoned, the dead and injured were evacuated and mop up exercise commenced immediately," he said.

"The suicide bomber at the scene made a dying declaration. He identified himself as Idris Talba, an indigene of Borno state residing at Shagari quarters in Kano".

The commissioner further told the reporters that following the security activity all over the area, another man, “Adamu Sani, who hails from Tofa local government of Kano State was intercepted and arrested at a nipping point along Sabuwar Gandu by Mobile Policemen".

According to Commissioner Idris, the suspect voluntarily confessed to participating in the attack on the Emir's convoy as well as many other coordinated attacks in the State.

He named the persons declared wanted as follows: Malam Sharif Mohammed Ghali, the Imam of Filin Cashew Mosque; Jigawa State-born Babangida Baba Salihu, who was an official of the National Hajj Commission in 2010 as well as a trader in Sabon Gari Market and co-ordinator of almost all the attacks in Kano; Ibrahim of Hadejia local council of Jigawa State; Adamu, also from Jigawa State; Alhaji Ali Na’ibawa, an Islamic scholar living at Na’ibawa quarters; Alhaji Ali Unguwa Uku; Habibu Gwammaja, an Islamic scholar living in Gwammaja Quarters; and Salmanu from Jigawa State, who was the sect’s armourer.
