There was panic in Kano on Monday, after high calibre improvised explosive device (IEDs), planted in one the of the first generation banks, was recovered and detonated.
The incident happened within the Kano Business District and eyewitnesses say the bomb was concealed and placed under one of the bank’s official cars. The discovery was made around 1pm and it forced a lot of banks and business owners to close up their office premises quickly. The anti-bomb disposal team were alerted and they cordoned off the area, before they detonated the device.
“We received a report that a strange object is lying fallow in the premises of a bank along Murtala Muhammad way,” the police Public Relation officer of Kano Command, ASP Magaji Musa Majia confirmed.
“We dispatched our Anti-bomb Disposal team who established it was an Improvised Explosive Devise and was defused immediately.”
