My Wife Died Because Her Jehovah Witness Family Refused Blood Transfusion- Husband

A police corporal assigned to the Wuse Zone 3 Police Division, Abuja, died on Monday at the National Hospital after rejecting blood transfusion.

The husband of the deceased, Emmanuel Timothy, said in an interview, that his wife, Grace, who was a member of the Jehovah Witness, died because her family refused to consent to her having a blood transfusion.

“She lost her pregnancy at seven months, which resulted in a surgery to get the baby out. After the surgery she had complications.

“When she complained of serious stomach ache, we rushed her to the National Hospital where the doctor said her stomach had to be flushed.

“But, before the flushing, they said she needed blood transfusion because she had already lost such much blood.

“However, she did not get the blood transfusion because her religion and family forbid blood transfusion,’’ Mr. Timothy said.

When asked if he would press charges against the parents of his late wife, he said he would.
“I have to press charges because they prevented my wife from receiving blood transfusion.

“Over our dead body. It is better she dies than for her to take another person’s blood,’’ they said to me. Mr. Timothy was at the police station to report the wife’s death.

  1. Mr Timothy, very sorry for dis loss...however the decision of any Jehovah's Witness not to accept WHOLE BLOOD TRANSFUSION nor any of its 4 components,is PERSONAL/INDIVIDUAL and SCRIPTURAL(ACTS Chapter 15verses 28&29)and not IMPOSED!There are howeva many alternative options to blood transfusion available in modern medicine and practised also in reputable hospitals in nigeria...many,many lives of Jehovah's witnesses hav been saved via these medical alternatives to blood transfusion.I want to also state dat blood transfusion in itself is not a 100% guarantee for life(its possible to transfuse blood and d patient still dies)your wife rests in Jehovah's loving memory of d faithfuls awaiting a ressurection to a paradise earth in d near future(Acts 24 verse 15)

  2. I cant believe that will still have this type of people in Nigeria .

I think the husband is not strong enough , how can your in law dictate for you ,when it comes to something rational and believe by society to be normal.

Now you want to go to court to punish them or what ?

Dont call yourself husband at all .

    The man is a kid.

  4. you are right. many still have blood transfusion and still die due to complication resulting from transfusion. the decision is not the family's alone, it also her decision. so charging the family to court will only bring more pain and disagreement. try to accept your lose and pray to Jehovah so you meet her in the coming new world where there is no death (rev 21:3,4)

  5. I believe since d woman is married to d man now, d box lies with d husband to make decisions for his family. Yes, suggestios are allowed but he has d final say. There is no guaranty she'll live but d man tried. He is alone now while his wife family still have themselves. A comment was made that there are alternatives, but they were no mention of these and might not supply d proportion of blood needed in this case. There is a reason we have been given knowledge and made discoveries. My own kettle of fish anywayz.

  6. Suppose the woman or any other person fail to live a holy life, will the refusal of blood transfusion still guarantee the paradise on earth or heaven?

  10. What? I pity people when they die out of ignorance. That death is avoidable. If u don't know, the fact still remains that death resulting from refusal to accept blood transfussion does nt guarantee that the person will go to heaven. It is only a myth just like the belief of d boko haram group that when u kill u r guaranteed 7 virgins. Let's be wise pls.

  11. I'm sorry for the loss. But even if she was conscious at the time, your wife would not have consented to taking someone else's blood. Her family only carried out her wishes. If your wife was really one of Jehovah's witnesses, then she must have signed the power of attorney over to her family. They did what she told them to do. Pressing charges would be a waste of time.

  12. Being a true Christian is not easy. Your wife died for a principle she believed in. Many people claim to be Christian but they won't lay down their lives to please God. Your wife will come back to life soon in the resurrection.

  17. The man ought to hide his head in shame cos he failed to defend his wife as a man should. He takes the decision(s) pertaining to his wife's health not her relatives. Pls note this, blood transfusion is not the same thing as eating blood. So your quote of Acts 15:28-29 does not hold water.

  18. many doctors and physicians all over the world attest to the fact that blood transfusion is not 100% safe for obvious reasons. the decision not to take blood transfused is scriptural. leviticus 17:14 clearly states that blood of any flesh should not be eaten. we know that the end result of food eaten, is absorption into the blood stream; transfused blood ends in the same destination. hence it is the same as if it were eaten. who will transfuse alcohol into his veins after the doctor tells him to abstain from drinking in order for him to survive or live longer? no one in his right mind. acts 15: 19-20 is another scripture that supports the wife's or family's decision. what will u do? will u obey God's word or look for a loophole or an excuse? warning: whoever wants to save his soul will lose it; but whoever loses his soul for my sake will find it.-matthew 16:25. i feel sorry for the loss of this caring and loving husband, but the wife made the right choice and God will grant her everlasting life.

  20. NAWA OOOO, MR TIMOTHY, WHEN YOU MARRY A WOMAN YOU ARE INCHARGE OF HER N NOT HER PARENTS. WHY DID YOU ALLOW THE FAMILY?! WHY?! LESSON TO SINGLES: MAKE SURE YOU KNOW EVERY 'LITTLE' INFO ABOUT YOUR PARTNER, TO AVOID THIS TYPE OF THING....MTCWEEEEEEEW

  21. The Bible clearly condemns the misuse of blood. (Acts 15:28, 29) Other matters that have to do with health care, though, are not clear-cut and require that each of us make a personal decision as to what treatment we will accept or reject. Our loved ones may have strong opinions on these issues.

  23. JEHOVA people and not jehova xtains are not true xtains. they are extreme muslims in disguise like BOKO HARAM. I stand to be corrected but dont attack me. anyway if u look critically at their doctrine and the way they manipulate meaning of bible verses, u will agree with me. I pray they will all become true xtains(catholics) one day in JESUS name.

  24. you can say what you like but the bible is there! of course, life is precious to Jehovah God, yet he allowed his son to die. why? 1. so that mankind can have everlasting life. 2. so as to prove that any human under severe test can remain faithful and obedient to him unlike adam who with ease disobeyed a simple test of integrity. 3. to serve as an example to all jesus' followers that obedience might include death with everlasting life in view.note though:there will be a resurrection of those who obey God's word even until death like Jesus Christ was resurrected.-john 5:28-29. you can say all you want but if u see what the bible really teaches( whether to eat or to transfuse) and you become a litigator against God's word...you have the right to do that. good health to u.

  25. Mr timothy sorry for the lost of your belove wife. But her refusal to take blood transfusion was her personal decision not that of her family.it shows she really kept her integrity to Jehovah even as far as death.Jehovah will sure keep her in his memory and we look forward to the time when Jehovah will bring her back to life again. Dat is the hope we all ar awaiting. Even if she had agreed to take blood transfusion that does not guarantee her survival. But she had decided to act in deeds as well. Jehovah will bring her back to life.

  26. was God talking about the action of eating or the content that was being eaten? answer honestly. the bible says that the life is in the blood. God gave it...what did he say we should do to blood that is taken: deuteronomy 12:24, pour it upon the earth as water, as if returning it to the worthy giver.drinking or transfusing is the same as ingesting or absorbing any content. if you want more clarification , please get informed or let sleeping dogs lie.

  27. please i want those who support blood transfusion to give me facts and figures from the bible so that we can keep these people quiet. i want sound logical reasoning and not harsh sentimental outbursts. let us be open-minded and learn something. i don't know much but i am sure that if God wants us to use blood in its liquid form to save life, he must have implied it somewhere. please help!

Children who a short of blood nd were transfused av grown into adulthood. Wisdom is giving by God for man's uses and not for decoration. Refusing blood transfusion is as good as commiting suicide. Pls review ur religion rules. There is no where in d bible where transfusion is forbiden. Jehovah witness are bunch of confused pple. A pity they a using d name Jehovah for its a sacred name

  41. faithfulness to God is all encompass, it is a way of life and it must be treated with utmost care. jesus blood is the only sure hope for redemeable mankind. l am a medical doctor by profession,l am not under obligation to recommend any therapy for any body, but when it come to issue of blood, people has conscientious objection to what is right or wrong. in practice, blood has been administered where patients survive, some become HIV victim like case of Eniola at Luth and many died.bloodless surgery has been one of the breaktthrougt in medical field in recent years and mostly welcome by those who had been well-informed. meticulous surgery, sampling methods, hemodilution and scores of methods are being carried out every day with safe, better and medically accalimed. for examples in France and Isreal equipment are avalible that can easily be used for bloodless surgery and many blood espanders that can easily boost the quantity and quality of blood are avilable.complex surgery like brain surgery, heart surgery, bone surgery has been performed where whole blood"are not use at all, these has been done in many hospital across europe.asamedical personnel l will give to anybody who want to accept, l will be more happier to help patients who refuse blood.

  43. Please, do not blame Jehovah's witnesses. There is nothing they say that they cannot back up from the scripture. Let us reason from the scripture and leave sentiment alone. Blood transfusion is forbidden in God's word. Doctors in the hospitals don't transfuse their people with blood. theh know dangers associated with is.The Bible in Acts 15:28,29 said we should keep abstaining ourself with Blood. Obedience is better than sacrifice. I have made research and I have discovered that taking blood transfussion or not taking among Jehovah's witnesses is a personal decision. It will be a waste of time to try to press charges against the witnesses. God will surely remember the woman.

  44. Religions do not allow rational thinking, everything is based on the books and the race to heaven forgetting completely that you are on earth where you need to do what is right and necessary. The woman could av taken the blood and still die but a trial could have kept her alive bcos we know it works but dying bcos your religion says no blood transfusion, what guarantee do you have of going to your so called heaven? It's all in your head and blinds you! As for the husband, what are you going to do in court? Since you married your wife, you decide what you want together. The decision was that of your wife not her parents. Whatever they want holds no water. Mr husband, you probably wanted your wife dead or you are plain stupid! You don't deserve to be called a man!
