‘Jonathan belittled his office by kneeling in front of Adeboye publicly’ - Tunde Bakare

Pastor-Tunde-Bakare
Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly tells Punch:

"They have signaled the campaign by going to kneel down before Pastor Adeboye. See, I am not saying that pastors should not pray for presidents, that man was representing an office; a whole nation crumbling before men of God because of political advantage they think they can get.

And if the prayer will bail him out, let us wait and see. The truth is who is preparing for 2015, which faction of the PDP? Is it the (Olusegun) Obasanjo faction? Or IBB faction? Or Jonathan faction? The governors’ faction? Because PDP is a house divided against itself; it’s a chicken that has begun to eat its own intestines. By going to kneel down in the open before the pastor, the man (Jonathan) did not even recognise the dignity of his office. If it were a private thing, it is okay for you to crawl or kneel but it is a whole nation.

That office has been diminished by a man who does not know the worth of it and does not deserve to stay there for one more day.

  1. PoliticIan or Pastor someone should remind this man to read his bible as we have an example in the bible. Moreover the president knelt before God not before a man.
Adeboye is seen as a man of God

  2. It is not until humility is idolized in a person's life that he begins to understand the many disguised facets of life. I totally disagree with Pastor Tunde Bakare! As far as the kingdom of God is concerned, all other kingdoms are subdued and overuled.President Jonathan kneeling before a respected man of God is just simply a sign that he recognises authorities that so many of our past rulers have ignored.Nigeria as it is today needs more of a spiritual intervention than just mere physical talks and struggles(i.e Tunde Bakare has no right whatsoever to talk about the termination of jonathan's stay in office).cheap talk! Though jonathan may not be right all the time-and he's not,He may have other negatively hidden plans disguised as publicly religious appeals but I strongly believe that he follows duely the principles of power and open leadership.Take note that a true leader must be able to motivate his followers above everything. If you take note, you will notice that our Nigeria of today is full of cheap noises from those who have nothing to offer-always looking for ways to get dirty attention. Tunde Bakare is one of those.

    1. And am sorry to say, you may be one of them too.

No amount of kneeling down before a man of God will change the fact that Jonathan should repent. Nigerians are disillusioned. You think you can rob and do all sort of evil things and then come to the house of God and worship men of God or give the ill gotten money to the church, that will never move God. All those ends here and as far as the bible is concern, to obey is better than sacrifice.

Stop fooling yourselves Nigerians. God is not mocked!

  7. I don't want to believe this is written by pastor Bakare, even a new convert will know better. "At the mention of the name of Jesus Christ, every kneel must bow" why will Jonathan be an exception. If he really said this, then he mixing his political issues with the word of God. So if he became the vice president he would never kneel down to worship God. Its a pity.

  21. By their fruit you shall know them. Many will call the name of GOD. But they are far from GOD.

Bakare was in all the campaign ground when Buhari was insighting northerners to be violent if they lose the election, that means he took part in the killing of our beloved NYSC members.
I just don't blame all of them, this is what you get when a government is honest. Their criticism will not diminish the support of Nigerians for this government.

  22. Tunde Bakere, I am sorry for you. Ofcourse you are a frustrated and failed Politician, a frustrated and failed pastor. I wonder the type of memberships that you have in your Church. I bet all of them will be illiterate militants. Leave the President alone. For even as things are, Nigerians still prefer him to you and your master!

  23. Pastor Tunde Bakare, Pls dont arouse the anger God upon yourself. You know what the scriptures says about the proud and the arogant. Dont allow Politics to rob you off all your anointing. The way you are going, I am afraid you are inviting God's wrath. Please seek God's wisdon before you talk publickly. You are loosing your converts and respect from those who trust you. Have you wondered how Unbelivers will see you, when Belivers are feeling this way. Please seek God;s intervention

  24. All well said! Past Tunde Bakare congrats, let God be the judge btwn you and GEJ. just remember what Jesus said: Luke 13:27 (KJV)
But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

  25. I have not seen Obama or Cameron or Kufor or any other African President kneeling before a crowd of campers(not inside a( church!) To be prayed for by a jet owning pentecostal pastor whose denomination the president does not even belong to! Perhaps those of u cucifying Bakare should advice the Anglican president to go and kneel down for a muslim cleric to be prayed for!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Religion is truly the opium of the masses. Little wonder Nigerians are forever poor.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Bakare is trying to betray his religious tenets to attrract the sympathy of the muslim north so that he would be acceptable to them but he will be like Senacherub.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I find that statement most hipocritical and irresponsible. Is he telling Nigerians that if President Jonathan had chosen to worship at Bakare's 'Latter Rain Assembly' and requested for prayers, it would have been out of place for the President to kneel down before the Pastor? I'm aware Bakare used to be a Muslim before his questionable 'conversion' to political christianity. I'd like to ask him if as a Muslim (or even now) he would dare to publicly rebuke a Muslim Head of State who puts his forehead to the ground in a Mosque during prayers as having undermined 'the dignity' of the office of Head of State? We must learn to separete crass/base politics of the most despicable kind from simple act of Christian worship. A final word to the Politician Pastor: No matter how dissatisfied we are with the current Jonathan administration, we will never be hoodwinked by your hipocricy - which is why YOU WILL NEVER WIN ANY ELECTION IN NIGERIA- Even if you decide to form a futile alliance with the devil himself!

  29. Most times i wonder the calibre of people who say they are men of God. Their attitudes most times baffles me as i wonder if they know what they do.

Come to think of it. If i might ask you my beloved Bakare. Which office is greater. Jonathan's or Adeboye's?

Oga,the harvest is plenty but the labourers are few, this should be your area of concentration and not who knells for who to be prayed for. Be guided.

  30. WHEN WILL U GUYZ GROW UP? YORUBA SAY IDOBALE KII SE IWA MEANING KNEELING DOWN FOR SOME ONE DOES NOT MEAN U AV A GOOD CHARACTER.U CAN KNEEL DOWN PHYSICALLY WHILE DEEP INSIDE U YOU ARE ACTUALLY STANDING. WHO IS FOOLING WHO? MORE SO THE BIBLE SAYS RENDER YOUR HEART AND NOT YOUR CLOTHE SO OPENLY KNEELING DOWN FOR GOD WITHOUT MATCHING CHARACTER OR GENUINE REPENTANCE IS NOTHING BUT FEIGN HUMILITY AND DOES NOT BRING GOD ANY GLORY!

  32. The energy you are wasting in fighting Pastor, E.A. ADEBOYE, you better use that energy to pray for forgiveness.
(1). The HOLY BIBLE says, every government is instituted by GOD.
(2). Remember king David. The man after GOD‘s own heart. He almost went naked for GOD. A public figure. I‘m sure you read that?
(3). Remember the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezza; king Soul. (stubborness).
(4). The party you belong to, called “boko haram“ for help.
-you know how many innocent souls they‘ve wasted.
(5). Just last year, your son retaliated a slap to a soldier, in the name of don‘t you know who my father is?
(6). If it were to in your “assembly“, would you have air this?
    Thank you sir.

  33. TUNDE BAKARE IS A LOOSER, SO ADEBOYE SHOULD KNEEL TO ANNOINT GEJ? IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD GEJ SHOULD CARRY HIS OFFICE ON HIS HEAD? WHAT DIES THIS MAN KNOW ABOUT HUMILITY? READ 2CORNICLES 20:20,,,,, WE CANNOT BE DECEIVED BAKARE YOU OBVIOUSLY NEED JESUS!!!

  34. Those of you crucifying Ps Bakare should ask God for forgiveness. Nigerian Eye just succeeded in playing a trick on your intelligence. Reading through the so called statement made by Ps Bakare intelligently, these questions came up: where and when was the statement made? why is quotation mark not correctly use? did Bakare granted an interview? if yes, why is it that other part of the interview were left out.....?. Nigerian Eye, this is bad journalism, we need intelligent reportage, stop soiling peoples hard earned character by reporting half truth. I know my comment may not be published but truth must be told.

  35. @ Emex, ur argument shld concentrate more on wether is ryt or not for a serving president to kneel down b4 man in prayers, Buhari did'nt said a word of instigation to the northerners during any of his election campaingn, i challenged u 2 publish ur authority insupport of ur claim, if GEJ bow b4 a man of god fine, he's right 2 some xtent coz it may be in comformity of his faith, we have somany presidents traced 2 christianity as their faith but none ever bow b4 a man seekin 4 prayers, God is not man and he alone knw de righteous among us, pls drop ur comment on de issue @ stake.

  37. Please Oh! People my only advise is that we should not play with God, because we are only wronging ourselves. We should have this at the back of our minds that even if we fine tune talks the facts still remains. We should note we have failed God and if we continue, we shall gradually see God (verily the Universal Integrator and Differentiator) in his actions.

  38. People talk nonsense about BUHARI because PDP has succeded in using religious/tribal sentiment to have him defeated not minding the consequences we are now facing. The Boko haram party is PDP. If BUHARI has religious/ethinical bigotry, his personal driver till today is a xtain, his cooks in his kaduna house has xtains. The way Boko Haram operates suggest that somebody in higher power(fed govt) is their financier. GEJ want to destroy north so that there will be no election 2015. lets see how it will work. please check out GEJ 's vote in the last PDP primary/general election per state in the north whether it has bearing with the states attacked by Boko haram before cruccifying me in this comment. May GOD help the truth sayer.

  40. Tunde Bakare is a converted Muslim, so i don't blame him as such but he should please go to God and pray very well so that he can really know his calling or his ministry, whether its in politics or gospelling. are you not the same person that parleyed with Buhari so that you can rule the nation, you forgot 2 Corr 6:14 then? You that accepted to be Buhari's vice and GEJ that knelt Down before Baba Adeboye, which one is better?
