An Abuja Federal High Court yesterday admitted in evidence two hundred pieces of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) allegedly found on six persons alleged to have participated in bombings which occurred last year in Suleja.
The court, however, refused to take custody of the explosives and bundles of connector wires but ordered the State Security Service (SSS) to do so for safe keeping.
Earlier, the court heard a prosecution witness, Michael Adebayo, a radioactive expert attached to the SSS, say the explosives are easily triggered by constant contact, as such they could not be brought out in the open court for further analysis.
Earlier, two prosecution witnesses confirmed that they recovered the items after three of the suspects were arrested in Kaduna State.
Shuaibu Abubakar, Salisu Ahmed, Umar Babagana, Mohammed Ali, Musa Adamu and Umar Ibrahim were charged on five counts of terrorism.
They are alleged to have caused the death of several persons through the use of improvised explosives at a political rally and at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Suleja and Dakna Village in Bwari.
Justice Bilkisu Aliyu adjourned the case till January 9 for further hearing.
