The above photo captures students of Ajuwon High School, Akute, Ogun State, South-West Nigeria, taking exams in a regular secondary school class room in Nigeria.
Because students of the public school lack enough chairs and tables, some of them had to look for used tires to sit for their exams.
While a whooping sum of N2.2bn is being used to build a new banquet hall, many government owned schools are in a very poor shape, it's a Shame. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

A big shame
ReplyDeleteNawa oo why how government are spending our momey on some easy taking billons of money
ReplyDeleteMay God save us oooooo
Those who turn our education into rubbish , i pray to God to ...
ReplyDeleteMany of ds ACN governors blame teachers 4 students mass failure.
ReplyDeleteIbibunle amosun can you see a show of shame in your state?
ReplyDeleteThis is a big shame to this country. Imagine how our future leaders are being treated. How well can this student assimilate and perform under this condition. Very very appalling. God will continue to deal with all bad leader both past and present of this country as we continue to heap curses on them
ReplyDeleteNo wonder I used to see the students of this school roaming about, is not their fault. How can you expect somebody to sit for hours on tyres.
ReplyDeleteI live in Ogun State. My employers are paying my tax to Ogun State government. If I had my way I would refuse it because my children are attending public schools in Lagos State. There is nothing like a school where I live.
ReplyDeleteThe tyre-chair style is a luxury compared to Aka Community Secondary School, Akwa Ibom State, where I witnessed clustered students kneel down (not under punishment) to write exams. Yet the state government boasts of a FREE, QUALITATIVE education.
ReplyDeleteIt is only in our Nigeria you will see all these nonsense
ReplyDeleteIs this a real ACN problem? The party is barely 2years on seat. And why should we quickly forget the precceding 8 years of PDP?
ReplyDeleteGovernment of the people indeed, they are so blind to the sufferings of the masses due to various engagement to cheat those that elect them. My piece of advice is for them to repent of this wickedness and attend to the needs of the masses.
ReplyDeletewe are finished in this country.....
ReplyDeleteHow do we expect these students to do well academically? Why is Nigeria's educational system so porous and disorganized? Who are the Educational Supervisors in this State? Who is the Education Commissioner in this State? This is an act of irresponsibility on the part of Government and the management of the School. What a shame?
ReplyDeleteFrom London, UK
Our politicians and leaders are demons and devils, they will all definitely rot in hell.how much are chairs and classroom blocks?
ReplyDeleteThis is not an issue of any political parties, this has to do with the individual who have the people's mandate to rule and lead them accordingly. Edo State public schools can compete with the best schools you can think of in terms of the structures, furnitures etc with good conducive environment. Above all it's free education from primary to secondary level, parents are withdrawing their wards from the so called private schools were you have to pay through your nose for the same quality found freely with the public schools. ACN rules there! It's not about the parties but the individual with conscience. May God help us all!
ReplyDeleteThank God for Information Technology and bold journalists like the NigerianEye. At least "they" will see more and more of their shame and maybe they will sit up some day. Those who govern spend billions on themselves while the governed languish.
ReplyDeleteNigeria Suffering and smiling. Shame!!!!!!!!!!! Oil rich and producing Country. such should not be told of us. yet people still live with less than a dollar everyday of their life. Some flies to India for medical treatment yet some cannot even afford to enroll for maternity care not to talk of operation of different kinds in their own bonafied country. Chai! Shame!!!
ReplyDeletehumm! this is not a news any more ,it is even better now, before the students used to sit on floor or mat.it shows that we have the worst form of governace in the world.
ReplyDeleteToo bad! This system of government in Nigeria will never lead us anywhere. There's so much money at d centre while d local dwellers who need the money most are left to suffer. FG keeps awarding rediculous contracts at very rediculous amount, wasting public funds on irrelevances. Governors instead of properly utilize their limited resourses rather engage themselves in money laundry with their spouse's as accomplices. Really too bad....
ReplyDeleteLet me quikly bring to your notice the issue of oyo state Governor's wife arrest in London, they so claim they runing free education in the state only for PM news to come up with news of police arresting our so called First lady of oyo state which she claim not true that she actually when to see her son resuming school, i now wonder if the so call free education in oyo state is functional why on earth will you enroll your son in school abroad paying huge amount of money of course from the tax payer hard earn money. God save us
ReplyDeleteIt is shameful to see what is going on in our schools and tertiary institutions nowaway! No one would believe the picture shown above having realise what amount the Federal Government releases to the states for the upliftment of education in the country. The ACN is noted for progress, but the incidence above was a shame to any progressive administration. Gov. Amosun should expedite action and bring about restitution to the school without further delay. As a measure to prevent further embarasshment to the govenment of Ogun State, an investigation of the school's administration and financial incapacity should be investigated.
ReplyDeleteGOV.AMOSUN SHOULD RISE UP TO THIS TYPE OF CHALLENGE BCOS HE'S THE LANDLORD OF THE STATE.

ReplyDeleteThis is pretty cool. Who said it's not?
ReplyDeleteAs long as the law makers keep getting millions as furniture allowance the kids will remain seated in with NO FUTURE ALLOWANCE. If you like you may call it no allowance for their future. But let them be remember that they, the law makers and other policy makers will one day be victims in the hand of these kids.
I WEEP FOR THIS COUNTRY.

WAY FORWARD:
Use 95% of all states and federal furniture allowances to furnish educational institutions and schools.
These are suppose to be the future leaders. Our leaders have failed woefully in governance. In the USA and other western countries primary and post primary education is free of charge, with breakfast and lunch served to the kids.Where are all the trillions coming from oil sales going? into private pockets of course. Shame shame shame to all Nigerian leaders. God will surely help those innocent kids.
ReplyDeleteschool's authorities should know better... government can't take the fall for everything, not in this time and age where our world is getting more a "project driven world"... we need to wake up as a people and push too...
