To ensure transparency and accountability in the management of the Flood Relief Fund, President Goodluck Jonathan has inaugurated an integrated website for flood relief donations.
The website, created by the Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation is to help mobilise funds from Nigerians all over the world.
The website is http://www.nigeriafloodrelief.org/
The President explained that the website was another major highlight of the fund raising efforts of the Federal Government through the Presidential Committee.
About N11bn was raised at a fund raiser in aid of the flood victims at the Presidential Villa in Abuja last week.
Co-Chairman of the Presidential Committee, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, said the committee recognised the need to quickly have every Nigerian play a part in the relief efforts.
He said, “It subsequently commissioned the development and deployment of a set of best in class digital channels in line with its terms of reference.
“Our Committee cannot successfully carry out this mandate on our own. We have therefore adopted both traditional and digital approaches. Let’s support the rebuilding efforts with our money, time and effort. Nothing is too small to give.”
