Uniport 4: Omuokiri-Aluu Monarch, 10 Others Charged To Court


 
Eleven persons including the traditional head of Omuokiri-Aluu community, Chief Alhaji Hassan Walewa have been arraigned at the High Court in Port Harcourt over the brutal murder last Friday of three students of the University of Port Harcourt and their friend at Omuokiri-Aluu, Rivers state.


The state Police Commissioner, Mr Mohammed Ndabawa who made this known when the Executive Secretary of the National Human rights Commission, Prof Ben Agwe and his team visited him at the Police headquarters in Port Harcourt said a total of thirteen persons had so far been arrested in connection with the ugly incident.

The state Police boss who spoke through his Deputy Police Commissioner, Mr Thomas Etomi said two persons out of the thirteen were kept behind to aid police investigation.

He assured that the Police would unearth all details relating to the murder, adding that the Commission would be kept abreast with minute developments from the Police angle on the issue.

The Police boss who described the way the four were killed as barbaric said there was no justification for the mob action. He said the Police would ensure such ugly incident does not repeat itself again in the state.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof Angwe said they were in the state to hear how the four were murdered. He said they would visit the village where the sad incident occurred and also make effort to meet with parents of the deceased before leaving the state.

He assured family members of the four and students of the University of Port Harcourt that his Commission would stand by them to see that justice was done in the case.

Prof Angwe said the Commission had received calls from the international community on the sad incident, promising that they would also monitor the court process to its end.

He further appealed to students of the University of Port Harcourt not to take laws into their hands over the ugly incident.

  3. Those involve should be punish especially the king by putting law into his hand, why didn't they hand them over to the police after arresting them, the king gave them go ahead to kill them and the way they were killed, even animal should not be kill that way, too bad.

  4. Death sentence must be restored or be implimented in Nigeria because Nigeria is turning to animal farm. This Must be Stopped for Human life is sacred. Impunity must be stopped in all its facets.
