Teenager pleads guilty to possession of fake N14, 000 notes

A teenager, Solomon Banabas,19, caught by the police with some fake naira notes during a stop-and-search operation on Tuesday in Lagos pleaded guilty to the offence.
Banabas told an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court that he was “guilty as charged’’.
NAN reports that the accused is facing a charge of unlawful possession of fake naira notes totaling N14, 000.
Prosecutor, Edet Okoi had told the court that the teenager was caught with the fake notes on October 11, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“The accused was stopped by the police, a search was conducted on him and fake N1, 000 notes totaling N14, 000 were found on him.
“He could not give a satisfactory explanation how he came about the fake notes,” he said.
Okoi said the offence contravened Section 78 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 201
1.
