Following the flood that ravaged her community, Mama Rhoda Tamunu, an elderly woman, allegedly aged 120 years, has been rescued from a flooded house in Bayelsa State.
Mama Tamunu was rescued by the state Emergency Medical Services at Agudama in Yenagoa, the state’s capital on Wednesday after concerned residents raised the alarm.
Apart from Tamunu, many Bayelsa residents have been displaced by floods which ravaged the state recently.
The Seriake Dickson administration, in wake of the disaster, inaugurated the state Emergency Response Flood Management Committee for immediate evacuation of flood victims and provision of relief items.
Already, many residents have been confined to the relief camps awaiting government’s next move even as president Jonathan has approved a cash donation running to billions of Naira for states devastated by flooding.
