The US President Barack Obama on Wednesday condemned the killing of four Americans, including the US ambassador, in an attack on his country's consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi.
The US leader paid tribute to Ambassador Chris Stevens and his slain colleagues, who died when a mob of Libyan protesters angered by reports of a film deemed insulting to Islam, stormed the US compound.
"The Marines are sending a FAST (Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team) team to Libya," the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.
The decision to move the roughly 50-member unit to Libya comes after Washington's ambassador to Tripoli and three other Americans were killed when a mob stormed the US consulate in Benghazi. The crowd had been angered over an amateur American-made film mocking Islam, after video clips from the movie had been posted on the Internet.
The low-budget movie, "Innocence of Muslims," in which actors have strong American accents, portrays Muslims as immoral and gratuitously violent.
President Barack Obama quickly ordered increased security at US diplomatic posts around the world, while slamming Tuesday's deadly assault in Benghazi — an Islamist stronghold in eastern Libya — which coincided with the anniversary of the September 11 attacks in the United States.

These people would be the ones seeking for trouble by making blasphemous statements against muslims or the prophet of islam and once the muslims start reacting they are termed as terrorists. Has anyone ever seen a muslim condeming Jesus christ? Please let us all learn to respect the belief of one another as well as the prophets of God.

ReplyDeleteIn Christendom, when you denigrate Jesus Christ or personalities considered divine or saintly, believers of the faith leave you to God for punishment. But in Islam, adherents kill for Mohammed. We have seen this in the past with Salman Rushdie, Theo van Gogh; more recently with the little under-aged Pakistani girl, to mention a few. When will the Muslims allow Mohammed to fight his fight and punish his detractors as done by Christians?

ReplyDeletethere is no justification in the world for taking the life of a fellow man under the guise of blasphemy. there was a movie some years back that portrayed Jesus as a homosexual. Incidentally, it was from the US. people protested, but no one killed anyone because of it. Let's not justify a violent culture by any means. let's all rise up to condemn it instead. There are civil ways of addressing grievances than committing murder of innocent people.

ReplyDeleteI believe no muslem would insult Jesus because Jesus is muslem, its only xtain dat can insult him by saying he is homosexual,etc. Because xtain don't know d value of jesus. For insulting ISLAM i would not be suprise,since dey can do dat to Jesus who dey pretend is there own.bunch of stupid. Libya has done a good job, remain Nigeria.
