Nigeria’s female weight lifter, Ivory Nwokorie, has won the gold medal in the women’s 44kg power lifting at the on-going Paralympic games in London.

Nwokorie, last year won bronze in the 44kg category at the third Fazaa International Para-powerlifting Championship in Dubai, to qualify for the Paralympic Games in London.
Despite failing to improve on her first lift, it was to be more than enough to win her the gold, Nigeria’s second for Powerlifting in two days, london2012.com reports.
She said, “‘It would have been better to have won the gold medal but I am very happy to have won the silver.”
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Ikechukwu Obichukwu on Friday won silver in the men’s 52kg powerlifting event while Anthony Ulonnam won silver in the 56kg men’s category
Ukraine took the bronze medal with Lydiia Soloviova lifting 100kg on the first lift.
