A mother of two, Afusat Abdulfatai, on Wednesday pleaded with an Ilorin Area Court to dissolve her marriage with her husband for alleged lack of maintenance.
She told the court that she had lost interest and love in the relationship and wanted the court to dissolve the marriage with Ishola Abdulfatai to enable her open another chapter in her life.
“I can’t go back to him. I’m hungry in the matrimonial home with my children,” she said.
She added that she had two children for the defendant; Abdulqudus, 5, and Fatiah, 2, who, she said, had been living with her parents for the past two years.
In his reaction, the husband said he was not ready to divorce his wife, saying the entire allegation against him was false.
“I’m not divorcing her. I want to take proper care of my children because she is the one presently taking care of them.
“I want to take care of them, even if it is five of her family members that are living with us,’’ he said.
He urged the court to plead with the wife on his behalf to give room for settlement.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, adjourned the case to September 12, for a report of settlement sought by the husband.
