Policemen attached to Isheri Division in Lagos have arrested a woman, who allegedly beat her 15-year-old brother-in-law to death, for stealing N50.
The incident, which occurred about 3 p.m, yesterday, at 3 Amosu Street, off Community Road, Ijegun-Igando, reportedly sent some of the residents into hiding for fear of being arrested by the police.
Eyewitnesses said occupants of 3, Amosu Street were attracted by the lad’s shout for help. One of them who reportedly went to rescue the victim was said to have been taken aback on noticing his still position on the floor.
Apprehension set in after several attempt to wake him up failed, following which the police were contacted. A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity explained that , “ we learnt that Seubuo ( deceased) was hungry because he had not eaten all day.
He was therefore tempted to steal N50 which he used to buy sausage. But while eating it, his sister-in-law, Mrs Ayinhongbe stumbled on him and when she discovered he stole the money, she descended on him. Nobody can tell what she used on him”
Policemen at Isheri division could not offer any explanation when contacted as they claimed the case just arrived .
Man docked over attempt to poison friend
Meantime, the Idimu Police division says it has charged a 26 year old man simply known as Cidi to Ejigbo Magistrate court for attempting to poising his friend, Jamiu, through a drink.
The offence was said to have been committed at a beer parlour at Idimu bus-stop.
Chidi was however granted bail by the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami, in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was however, remanded at the Kirikiri prison pending when he would fulfill the bail conditions, with the case adjourned to August 29, 2012.
