"My Late friend wasn't a runs girl" - Cynthia Osokogu's close friend screams

Cynthia Osokogu, the 24-year-old girl who was allegedly murderered by her BBM friends in FESTAC, Lagos, has been described by a close friend, Jane Nneka as a decent girl, debunking rumours about Cynthia being wayward

At the age of 24, Cynthia had a successful business and was running a post-graduate programme in Public Administration. Sadly, people will ignore all that and choose to believe that because she was pretty and young, she must be a runs girl. How sad! We judge people by our own low and shabby standards.

At 21, a lot of the people who now make it a point to formulate such hateful rumours were still struggling to buy JAMB results while Cynthia was already a young graduate. Those writing rubbish don’t know anything about Cynthia .

I knew her and her family well. Her brothers are big boys in the Air Force and her dad a bigger guy in the Army. She came from a noble family where all big brothers and parents are ok. It is sad people now write rubbish because she was young, beautiful and attractive.

Well, whatever I say wouldn’t bring our own single daughter of General Frank back to us nor to her lovely mother, whom she was like an eagle and diamonds, no matter what. Must every good-looking pretty young lady be a runs gal? Never. Cynthia had every good thing going for her. She owned and ran a boutique called “Dress Code” in Keffi.

I am a friend to the brothers. Often, Ken, her big brother, will always say: ‘work hard Jenny and do not jeopardise your studies for anything. Package yourself and be outstanding.’

They are good people. Cynthia being the only sister of Williams and Ken, they could give her their last blood. Williams, the usual calm guy, can’t believe nor accept people associating Cynthia with runs. Never.

May your soul continue to find eternal rest Cynthia Valerie Udoka Osokogu. “Nwa Mara nma”, “olaedo”, “ututu Oma” “ayah nne ya”, vibrant, pretty, energetic and ambitious queen, our model. Those involved in your killing will never find peace. They must be murdered same way. Adieu, honey. We all will miss you. Sleep in bosom of God.

  2. Birds of a feather flock together.Well, whether you make her a saint now is immaterial because it is too late to cry when the head is off. Certificate is merely a paper that says that one is something. However, whether the person is what the certificate says is another thing going by the level of corruption in the land.Which post graduate student can make a blind date or business trip without letting at least his parents or close friends know what she is enbarcking on.Nneka did she tell you where she was going?.Anyway it is no time to start playing the ostrich but it is alesson to other young girls who thing they are flying high. The Law must take its course and all those involved in this crime must face the penalty.

  7. We must learn from the experience of others. Our young girls should know that the times are evil. Don't trust any stranger. Make your moves known to at least one person. Social media relationship should be handled with d best caution. Lets be modest in all that we do. May cythia little soul rest in peace.

  9. I think the rate at which our women(both married) not ladies only search for date online is alarming,FACEBOOK, BADOO,2GO etc has now become a meeting point for fornication and adultery. The worst hit are our undergraduate girls that leave school and go traveling visiting an online lover and stay days without informing anybody.Cynthia is just unfortunate this time and am sure this is not her first adventure.well RIP Cynthia

  17. Whats usually d outcome of online connections? 90% of these end in bed. People r fake on social media b it a girl/lady or a boy/man so b careful. I doubt a sane mind could do well in a marriage frm FB,BBM. Etc -Chris PH

  21. Ejike and co u must learn not to judge people cos u are not saints either! She did everytyn out of trust and not cos she went for runs! She thought he was a real friend and it cud have happened to anyone irrespective of where they met! Even those u knw very well frm Adam can kill u if they are greedy! Dats why d bible says d heart of man is desperately wicked and who can know it? Cynthia as a young gurl dnt do badly for her age except her innocence and trust was her doom! May her soul rest in perfect peace and may God give her beloved family d fortitude to bear d innumerable loss! God knows best! AdieU Cynthia

  25. What I find more saddening apart from the tragedy which has just recently hit the Osokogu family are the comments here. I do not know Cynthia and I have never met her. I am not on Facebook and will never be there for personal reasons but I am disgusted. I am disgusted that most of the comments here appear to be fired by jealousy, frustration, inferiority or superiority complex and ignorance. Yes!I am not from a stinking rich background and some of the people who have made logical comments here could not afford 3 square meals either. Why are we like this? Did you follow Cynthia to Lagos from her point of departure? @ the person who mentioned the vibrator, do you know who actually owns it? That means Cynthia also brought the chains that were used to bound her. Be careful what you say, it may happen to someone close to you. Nneka's comments were directed at people like you who derive joy in bringing others down. Mentioning her background was to show that Cynthia had no reason to be a runs chick. Whether her trip was for runs or pure adventure, it is none of our business. What matters is that she fell into the hands of internet predators and never got out alive. Be careful what you type and what you say about another person. A word is enough for the wise.

  26. i think the person u wrote and called Nneka an animal did out of mere personal hate. pls did u kw her b4 if i may ask? y d choice of words on her? the days r evil. Now can understand all d write up abt d deceased. u write abt pple and say crabs without kwing them. 4 the vry fact u called d lady wicked names< has show ur kinda person. i think u ow her an apology MR.SHM .GOD save Nigeria

  27. 2 my knowledge, i tink she wrote abt her brodaz trying to point that her frnd arnt in2 d vry popular anti_social vices. If she has every tin going on 4 her, then she has nothing to gain from Runz. God bless accpt her innocent soul in heaven.Rip Cynthia

  30. 4 those of u who hv chosen to call Nneka diffrnt names eg, fool, low life, animal, etc. well done ooh. u try well. pray that such tragedy do not befall ur family. from ur statement, u sound d most foolish and a beast. RIP Cynthia.

  31. ...well,if she really is a 'good girl'.why would she go all the way to lagos to meet a guy she just met on facebook?why couldnt he go to abuja to see her instead?at least that is what every classy girl would do first, before going that far to see someone you barely know.
Why didnt she plan on staying over at a girl friend's?then hook up with her facebook friend in an open place?why did she accept to go to the hotel at all with him in the first place?...these and many more questions should be asked, and i guess we'll never know the answers, because Cynthia is dead now.
It aint just about temptation, cos the bible said "Resist the devil and he flee from you",so....

As for this best friend of cynthia,u cant totally vouch for her,cos u are not with her every second,so you do not know what she does behind your back and the front she puts up afterwards...

Anyways, may her soul rest in peace.

I really pray ladies learn from this,i really do pray they learn.

    Zandra
