President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed shock and sadness at the death of Mr. Meles Zenawi, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, describing him as a great African statesman.
In a statement in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Communications, Dr. Reuben Abati, the president said: “On behalf of the Government and the people of Nigeria, President Jonathan extends his deepest sympathy and condolence to the people of Ethiopia, especially members of late Prime Minister Zenawi’s family.
“His death is a major loss for Africa. He was a great African statesman, who is also a friend of Nigeria, a nation-builder and a great servant of the Ethiopian people.
“Prime Minister Zenawi will be remembered for his vision and integrity.”
