Gunmen yesterday kidnapped the pastor of All Saints Pentecostal Assembly, Rev. Israel Onutame, as he was leaving his residence for church at the Ekredjabor area of Ughelli, Delta State.
The kidnappers, The Guardian learnt, were seen driving up and down his street that morning in a sport utility vehicle before they eventually struck.
As soon as the pastor drove out of his compound in a family car with his daughter and son, the four kidnappers who wore black clothes and carried AK47 rifles, blocked the car in the quiet street and took the pastor away in their SUV.
They also took the phones of his children probably to stop them from making any call, but they were not abducted.
In Ughelli alone, five persons were confirmed abducted last week.
One of them was a businessman (name withheld) who was shot twice in his thigh and his Honda car sprayed with bullets as he tried to escape abduction. His car is still at a mechanic workshop. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
