The Federal Government on Monday declared Monday, August 20, and Tuesday, August 21 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitri or Sallah celebration.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mrs Anastasia Nwaobia, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior.
The declaration on behalf of the Federal Government urged Nigerians to emulate the exemplary attributes of Islam which are “love, tolerance and peaceful co-existence amongst the people’’.
The statement further advised Nigerians, irrespective of their religious beliefs, to use the occasion for sober reflection and pray for the peace, unity and progress of the nation “in its march to nationhood’’.
Eid-el-Fitri or Sallah celebration will marks the end of the 30 days fasting embarked upon by Muslim faithful on July 20.

Yes, this fasting period shd be used for sober reflection, especially for this so called 'Boko Haram'. They shd desist from killing innocent lives, if they have an issue with the President or Government as the case may be, then let them meet with him to iron it out, not killing pple unnecessarily believing they are making Nigeria ungovernable for him. That's very callous of them. Pls, repent. Go and read Deut13:1 to the end, you will know that Christians too are charged to kill unbelievers who are trying to make us wonder away from our God but that is in the old testament, we live in the reality of the new testament now. If we all start to kill, who will remain to worship God. Hence, that wouldn't be God's plan for his pple.
ReplyDeletehope same Government wishing them happy cerebration are ready to protect life and property which are supposed to be primarily roles of any government.
