ESUT Vice Chancellor Kidnapped by Gunmen

The Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Technology, ESUT, Professor Cyprian Onyeji, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in front of the university gate around 11: 30am yesterday morning.

According to eye witnesses, the gunmen ambushed the VC and his police escort at the main gate of the university in Agbani, Nkanu West LGA of Enugu State, where they waited for a while, as he was returning to campus. 



Three of his police escorts were seriously injured in the gun battle that ensued during the kidnapping. After demobilizing the police escort, the gunmen dragged the VC's driver and orderly out of the car, jumped in and drove off with the VC.

Prof. Onyeji’s whereabouts is still unknown as the kidnappers are yet to contact his family or the school authorities.
