For the erstwhile President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mustapha Akanbi, members of the Boko Haram sect are desecrating Islam through their activities.
Justice Akanbi, pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), made the remark in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital at the weekend.
It was at the 2nd Ramadan lecture organised by Ma-assalaam Islamic Foundation in conjunction with Mustapha Akanbi Foundation.
Justice Akanbi said: “The sect has given Islam a bad name. When we were growing up, there was nothing like Boko Haram. All this nonsense can be remedied if men and women of faith muster the courage to enlighten us more about Islam.
Akanbi’s lecture was entitled: “The Muslims and Society in Nigeria: Challenges, prospects and solutions.”
The Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court, Justice Idris Haroon, who chaired the occasion, said the corporate existence of Nigeria was being threatened by the challenges facing Islam.
His words: “More than ever before, Islam today is encountering a lot of challenges, which are threatening the nation’s sovereignty and unity.
“The co-existence of this great country and its unity, which was laboured for by our forefathers and preserved by those great patriotic Nigerians, is now at the verge of collapse.
“Unless God-fearing ones among us rise quickly, it may be too late to rescue this nation from the looming doom.
“One will be amazed and totally embarrassed, considering the message of Islam and what is now happening in our land regarding freedom of worship, attacks here and there from both Muslims and Christian against one another.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

ReplyDelete1. Boko haram is showing the TRUE islam. If i'm lying, then explain the violent verses in the Quran that call for muslims to fight and kill nonmuslims (exactly what boko haram is doing). Verses like Quran 9:29, Quran 9:111, Quran 9:5, etc
2. To the best of my knowledge, the christians never launch the first attack. It is usually a case of either a reprisal or a counter-attack. So to say 'attacks here and there from both muslims and christians against one another' is misleading and just plain wrong!

ReplyDeleteWhoever attack first is irrelevant as at now. Innocent people are being slaughtered almost every blessed day. The solution to the problem is what we need. Dialogue, compromise and forgiveness - whatever has happen we should learn to forgive and forget - move on n build our country. Islam from the Arab and Christianity from Western countries. These two religion are like infection that have brain wash we Africans. We always use this religion as an excuse to do anything silly but never use our brain to think for ourselves. ReplyDeleteWell I am A Christian and know better than to be told that Boko Haram and Shekau are just doing what they want with humans and crediting it to God in a most blasphemous way. My pain is the fact that Muslims are showing no remorse and often times helping with flimsy escuses and even trying to say the activity is sponsored by christian or US. Just imagine it the other way round Christian doing this to Muslims in the South will any Christian be surviving in the north up till now ? will the country not have collapsed ?

So, you are annoyed that i'm quoting the Quran correctly? You guys just keep lying to everyone. The fighting in the Quran has nothing to do with self defense. In fact, let me quote Quran 9:29 -
ReplyDelete"Fight those who do not believe in allah, nor in the last day, nor hold that forbidden that which has been forbidden by allah or his apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of truth, even if they are people of the book (jews & christians) until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission and find themselves subdued."
What possible context or reason could justify such a verse. Not only is it very clear and explicit, it gives a detailed series of reasons to fight nonmuslims. Imagine if situations were reversed, and there was a christian terrorist group called arab haram or something, and in the bible it said fight those who do not believe in Jesus. Wouldn't you agree that the christian terrorists are just doing what their book commands? Well, then apply the same judgement to your own religion!!!!
Yet another verse says (Quran 9:123):
"Oh you who believe, fight those of the unbelievers near to you and let them find in you hardness."
Another verse says (Quran 48:29):
"Mohammed is the messenger of allah, and those who are with him are severe against disbelievers and merciful among themselves"
I can quote more... oh, and if you think I don't know my bible, and can't quote that too, BRING IT ON!
So Muslims, Imams answer now oh! Did your God not say you should fight non muslims. If no you are changing what is written in your Holy book (Quran 9:29).
