The Management of Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort in Calabar, Cross River State, on Friday, disclosed that over N2 billion was spent to build a conference centre at the resort to host international events.
The Managing Director, Bassey Ndem, made this known when the new executive members of the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) visited him in his office.
According to him, the new 1,000 capacity event centre is a well equipped state of the art conference centre with banquet and exhibition halls, among others.
“We have built a new conference centre which is funded by the state government. It is built to international standard and is a first class conference facility," he said.
Ndem said that Tinapa had recorded significant successes in recent times.
“There are a lot of good things in Tinapa, There is an air of confidence now than before."
According to him, the resort had hosted numerous international activities, and its hotel is currently the most performing hotel in Cross River.
"“Amber Hotel that everybody had written off is the most selling hotel in the state. We are doing 10 times better under a black manager than we ever did with a white man,” Ndem said.
He said that 133 containers had arrived into Tinapa from February to March this year.
