Admits he was sanctioned for Professional Misconduct in the US.
The controversy generated by the impeachment motion against President Goodluck Jonathan last week took a new twist, yesterday, as a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamilla, who presented the motion, accused the Presidency of circulating misleading reports in the media to tarnish his reputation.
However, he admitted he was punished for professional misconduct in the United States in 2003.
In response to reports in some sections of the media alleging that he was convicted by the Supreme Court of Georgia, USA, Gbajabiamila said he was sanctioned by the Georgia Bar Disciplinary Board for professional misconduct.
Gbajabiamilla said: “Let me state very clearly that, yes, I was sanctioned by the Georgia Bar Disciplinary Board for professional misconduct and negligence due to an unfortunate ethical violation that took place about 10 years ago in 2003.”
He said it was his para-legal staff who stole the money, contrary to his instruction that the said sum, $25,000, be paid to a client.
He said: “This did not come to my knowledge until I received a letter from the Georgia Bar in 2005.” The letter was addressed to my Lagos address, which I had left with the Georgia Bar as my contact address for any housekeeping matter that may arise after I might have left.”
A self-styled Legislative Awareness Group had alleged in a paid advertisement in a national newspaper yesterday that “Saharareporters (an on-line news medium) found out that on February 27, 2007, the Highest Court in the State of Georgia, USA, ordered that Femi Gbaja with state bar no.288330 be suspended from the practice of law for 36 months before a full panel of Supreme Court of Georgia led by Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears.”

It is obvious that majority of our politicians have, at one time or the other been indicted or out rightly jailed for stealing, cheating etc. Yet they find their way into governance in this country - little wonder why the high level of corruption and stealing continue. The Nigerian voters should by now be wary of money-taunting politicians. Ole!
ReplyDeleteYou've said it all, my brother. These guys are all thieves, according to OBJ. We have a lot of Fa-Rogues. It is indeed a house of rogues. That is why the executive can use the SSS to shut them up everytime, because they all have cockroaches. Its a pity. We the youths must learn and avoid shortcuts. We have to be very careful to that we don't fill up our cupboards with cockraches. The truth is that some of us are going to be the honourable members someday. And we have to avoid 'Dishonourable' acts TODAY, so that we can say the truth tomorrow and still sleep well.
DeleteBros nor worry papa mess nor dey smell, na pickin own na him dey smell.
ReplyDeleteCarry on with your legislative duties, God will vindicate this conutry one day.
Why complaining now? Is it because he proposed impeachment related issue? Why such allegation hasn't come up before now? are they just hearing the news?
ReplyDeleteGbajamila has been there right from the era of AD to AC etc and allegation hasn't been made ever before now but today because he said the fact about impeachment action as a last result on misappropriation, lack of direction, visionless and lack of confidence on presidency.
I guess the reporter was sleeping before now. please, tell who ever is making such baseless allegation to return to bed, he needs to rest.
Gbajamila please, go ahead saying the truths. After all, you are not the only one, virtually every one of our leaders have stained record.
Here in Nigeria no single corrupt free person in government. Evry where the hunters are been hunted. Stand against corruption next you wll be indicted. Nawaoo!

ReplyDeletejust like Jonathan did against Atiku, in the case against Justice Salami stay in office, and subsidy romoval; he is now using propaganda against those who moved motions against him on the floor of the house, and "yeye" Nigerians are writing jargons to call people thieves, instead of asking the president questions.
God help Nigeria.
How there you try to ridicule the President? Are you are a saint or corruption free? You came back from the US because there are no laws here, and cases of corruption may hardly be tracked.

ReplyDeleteFellow Nigerians, let us call a spade a spade. That someone was erred, exposed, punished and admitted his guilt is better than covering it. We cannot continue to follow economically blind and wasteful leaders. They are not going to take us anywhere. They are sinkers tied to the neck of this generation who is wallowing in the ocean of poverty. We must get them off our neck. It is a pity for this generation living in this enclave called Nigeria at this current dispensation under the leadership of visionless, shameless, selfish, unpatrotic, individuals that assembled themselves under the political umbrella branded PDP- People of Dubious Personalities, or "Party for Dubious People". with the intention to milk the country dry. If the President with all his kitchen cabinets/advisers is not performing or not getting it right, he must be called to order. If he is too big to take to correction, he must vacate the seat. it is not his birth right. The executives, legislatives and the judiciary should also remember that Nigeria is not their yards and nigerians are not their tenants. The reason why corruption has eaten deep into the fabrics of this nation across every stratum of the nigerian populace is that crimes are not always investigated. If investigated, due to god fatherism, culprits are not sactioned or punished accordingly, hence it has become norms and common practices in the country especial among the elites and political or public office holders. Only communals or 'common citizens' feel the heavy weight of the law of the land. Our founding fathers who fought for the independence dreamt of a land where peace and justice shall reign. Which one is reigning? Instead of peace and justice, what we have now is insecurity and injustice. inequality and selective administration of justice, under judges who have forsook their professional ethics and sold their conscience to corruption, thus their judgement is perversed. To the voters and supporters of one party or the other, what we should be in support is the truth. Don't let us sold our future, and that of the unborn generations to these shylock politicians in exchange for the yearning of our stomach at the moment. Your stomach will continue to ask for more everyday. Remember that before a politician will remember you for good, he must have satisfied and quench his thirts first, followed by his family needs and his unborn generations before taking you into consideration if he will ever remember that you worth more than the price he bought your vote.
ReplyDeleteOnly good governance can remember you if you have values and skillful hands by providing enabling environment/infrastructures for the populace, where your skillful hands will be able to function creatively while your values continue to appreciate day by day.
