Police detain journalist For Divulging too much information on the $3m Otedola-Lawan Case


A reporter with the Peoples Daily News-paper in Abuja, Mr. Lambert Tyem was yester-day detained for over six hours by the police who accused him of divulging sensitive information to the public with regards to the $3m cash-for-clearance scandal involving oil mag-nate, Femi Otedola and ranking lawmaker, Farouk
Lawan. The police had last month, invited Mr. Tyem. Tyem, who arrived at the Force Headquarters at about 11:30am, was taken to the office of the Ali Amodu-led Special Task Force in-vestigating the bribery al-legations and was released on bail around 6pm.

His fingerprints and passport photograph were taken.

The reporter, who spoke with journalists, said he was interrogated by one Mr. Yakubu, a Chief Super-intendent of Police, CSP.

It was learnt that the police is set to charge him with conspiracy and divulg-ing official secret by Monday next week.

The Nigeria police say ''police is your friend'',frieend indeed.Most times i wonder if Niigeria is a country,village or amlet.Democracy is about free press.Instead of the police to work hand in hand with this gentleman,it turned the other way round.With this development,am quite sure the police has been bribed to withold more certain informations in this case.
