‘Obasanjo would have stopped Boko Haram’

Founder, Ifeoluwa Mission, Rev. Tela Tella, said on Tuesday that Boko Haram assumed the monster it had become because President Goodluck Jonathan failed to apply the ruthlessness of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

At a news conference, Tella, said the level the dreaded sect had got to could no longer be tackled by force but by persuasion and dialogue.

He said, "The mistake President Goodluck Jonathan made about Boko Haram was that he did not borrow from Obasanjo's ruthlessness. Now, he has missed it; he cannot use force anymore.

"Applying force now is too late. There is already total confusion in his administration. Boko Haram is beyond him because he did not take action quickly."

However, he said Jonathan was the Lord's chosen and nothing anybody could do about it.

"It is true that Jonathan is not one of the most powerful persons that is supposed to lead the country. But who are you to oppose the Lord's chosen? Majority of Nigerians voted for him, so that means God wants him there," he said

  2. What is this man talking about?! I am sorry, Mr. Tella, you got it all wrong; totally. Boko Haram was there during Obasanjo's time. He, at least, twice had the opportunity to quell the menace when he was presented damning security reports on BH. He did nothing but allowed it to fester and grow into the monster it is today.

Rev. how can you also say that Mr. Jonathan is not ruthless enough to match OBJ, which if he had been, BH would by now have been history? You also said that GEJ is the Lord's chosen to preside over Nigeria and there's nothing any mortal can do about it. This is scary because it means that your said Lord has placed GEJ on us to drag us into the abyss. This can not be true.

  3. Was it not the same ruthlessness by the Yaradua govt against BH that got us where we are? That govt only succeeded in hurting the tiger`s tail by giving a `finish em all` order against the sect. Their leaders were rounded up and extrajudicially murdered, their dwellings were bulldozed, their assets confiscated and thousands of suspects, including innocents were massacred on the streets of Maiduguri.
Dialogue, Mr. President. No guerilla movement, terrorist or otherwise, has ever been defeated by force. Be wise.

  4. I think by now we should ask our brothers from the North, what is about Boko?if they refused to tell us then we are heading somwhere goood, G Bush said we fight for peace, we have to seek peace by force that is my believe.

Talking of OBJ role, he would have done it if he want to, he knows how to do that, but the BOKo was not bold enuf to come up as they are now, all the same, there still unknown soldiers in Nigeria so Haram sould be very careful and lay down thie weapons. thats my advice, and of course thier hen that petch on the rope, neither the hen nor the rope will see peace.
