Nigerian Cab driver who returned N18m to British Passenger, gets award

The Nigerian Network of Women Exporters of Service (NNWES) has honoured Mr. Imeh Usua, an airport taxi driver that returned a bag belonging to a British passenger containing foreign currency worth N18 million, with service delivery award.

Although the incident took place in 2007, NNWES President Nkiru Joy Okpala said it was not too late to recognize him for his sincerity.

Usua, a father of six, who joined eight other award recipients in Abuja, said he had no regrets for returning the money even though he is "a poor man."

"I can never take another person's money. I am very happy that Iam being recognized," he said.

The recipients include Miss Oyinaya Kalu Oka of the NTA, Ambassador Godknows Boladei Igali, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources; Dr Azubuko Joel Udah, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, among others.

  4. Mr. Imeh Usua has made an unforgettable impact. Also, NNWES recognizing and honouring him for this "extra-ordinary" behaviour has further reinforced the positive attitude to life. This is the way to go for all of us. Welldone to Mr. Usua and NNWES.

  5. We need more Nigerians like him. God will surely bless him because of that. To the person who made the first comment, YOU are what is wrong with this country. Shame on you for leaving such a stupid and insulting-to-God comment. As if God himself did not say "you shall not steal!". How dare you say that someone's money that he forgot in a cab is God's way of blessing you? God works in mysterious ways, not in CROOK-ISH ways! You have shamed our country you stupid, useless, idiot!

  6. Praise Almighty Allah! With all hardship imposed on us by ungodly looters we still have honest citizens among us.

Mr. Imeh Usua has left good name for his children while others looting left and right are bad name for their entire family.

Mr. Usua thanks for being honest.

  9. Yes, Nigeria needs person like Imeh as a leader. Imeh is more sincere than many modern men O God in 9ja.

He is far more better than every one in both lower and upper 9ja house of legislation.

Senators, governors and others should learn from him and stop dragging 9ja name in mud.

  14. We are yet to know what type of award was awarded to Mr. Usua. Secondly, where is this Usua from? Cos that name sounds like my dad, cos he likes keeping things to himself.
Proof: My name is U****e Imeh Edet (Usua), my dad's name is Imeh Edet Usua; My father has six (6) children, and he is a driver at the Calabar airport. JESUS! Could this be the reason he came home that fateful day smiling and weeping at the same time althrough?
I will find out from him when he comes back because this cannot be a coincident. He must go back and bring that N18m from whoever he returned it to because "we have suffered" so much to eat 3-square meal. What rubbish!

  15. I think it is good to be honest as Mr Imeh was being especially in this country of ours, however, hohest people should be rewarded nicely - with something that will at least reduce their poverty level, if we can be doing that, I am sure more people would wish to be honest. May Almighty Allah bless and reward Mr Imeh accordingly!

  20. Mr. Imeh certainly did something honorable and he deserve every commendation even to the presidential level, but I will like to view this from the economic angle, that is:"what was the British Man doing with N18m cash CCAASSHH"?
He should be arrested for economic sabotage & breaching our immigration policy by traveling and entering Nigeria with excess Cash.

Think about it can any Nigerian enter Europe or America with any thing above $10k ?

by going free the British guy has rubbed Nigeria of valuable Forex & Forex reserve.

  21. i think the man should have ask the oyinbo guy to reward him, by giving him some money, he was returning the money as least to compensate him,
becos honesty pays., not giving him award, he can not eat the award.

  29. The inscription on that certificate says"HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY" should be changed to "HONESTY IS THE ONLY POLICY" and if it is the only policy to everybody in Nigeria, nobody in this country will ever suffer.
