This came as Conference of Igbo Youth Organizations, CIYO, warned that Ndigbo "would no longer watch in silence while our brothers and sisters are slaughtered like animals" in the Northern States.
National President of BZM, Benjamin Onwuka, at a briefing said what prevented the realization of Biafra republic over the years was the inability to get the support of world powers, like the United States of America to back the project.
"As we approach the end of 13 years since the mobilization and struggle for Biafran Independence began under the aegis of MASSOB and other groups, the people of Biafra have not made much effort in realizing our dreams because the struggle has been internalized since 1999," Onwuka said.
He expressed regrets that the international community did not know the aspirations of the Biafra people, saying "Biafra must therefore be internationalized because the forces preventing the dreams for our independence are vested in the United Kingdom.
Biafra can only be achieved when we secure the support of the United States of America; the day USA comes to our side, that day we shall be free from Nigeria; the story of South Sudan where a bloody civil war was fought for over 24 years is a typical example."
Meanwhile, the Igbo youths in a statement endorsed by 10 youth leaders, including the National Coordinator, Igbo Youth Grand Alliance, Dr. Uchenna Uchehara, who read it after their emergency meeting in Owerri yesterday said: "Events of the past few months in Nigeria have become very disturbing to stakeholders, especially the Igbo nation that played a major role in the founding of Nigeria and inspite of the tragedies of the Biafran war, resolved to give total support to one united Nigeria".
They lamented that the ugly experience of Ndigbo in Nigeria had been the persistent and unprovoked killings of Igbo citizens outside Igbo land.

ReplyDeleteit is long over due....... Let all the igbo nation stand up with one voice and strength to support the actualization of an independent BIAFRA NATION. Arise Ndi-igbo and join the course for freedom from this failed state called Nigeria
ReplyDeleteGod, will help us...becouse in him we trust
ReplyDeleteSo, essentially what you are saying is that the way to solve the problems caused by division is to cause more division.... absolutely brilliant -_-
ReplyDeleteWhat's next? Are we gonna start fighting fire with petrol?
YES THIS LONG OVER DUE MR. ANONYMOUS. I THINK WITH WHAT IS HAPPENING TODAY IN SO CALLED UNITED NIGERIA IGBOS SHOULD REKINDLE STRUGLE FOR BIAFRA REPUBLIC. I DO NOT THINK THAT SOMETHING GOOD WILL COME OUT OF NIGERIA . LETS GO FOR BIAFRA .
ReplyDeleteI'm not Igbo but with all that's happening in the North any group that can stand against the boko haram war on Christians and Southerners have my vote. The country needs to breakup.

ReplyDeleteEmpty boast. Where are the logistics, material for prosecution, manpower and the intelligence. The igbos are so disunited in terms of political will and common efforts to achieve common goals. Money and position have brought so much disillusion that when these two are on ground everybody is for him or herself.
ReplyDeleteLet them stop making toothless noise about Biafra. Biafra is long dead. pls come up with another genuine plan. Biafra??? My foot!
What is gonna become of the Yorubas and the other non-northern ethnic Groups... I worry!
ReplyDeleteHas anybody prayed to know if GOD is in suport of that agender?
ReplyDeleteAs an Akwa Igom man, i support the biafran nation and already i am among them. We cant stand to see our people slaughtered like ram or exploded like iron ore. Biafra will survive if we thrive.
ReplyDeleteI'm not disputing all ur comments n opinions, but if u guys knw wat WAR really look like, wen it comes to ur door step, den u will.........
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for all of you supporting a breakup, you all talk like babes. Even your so called leaders calling for this breakup. It is evident that they lack understanding.
ReplyDeleteIf you guys know what war and it scars means, then all of you will tremble at your feet and pray and work towards peace.
Do you know what war is? Again I am sorry for you. Maybe you should dig on the Internet and look for videos and commentaries on the Biafran war or even the South Sudan that was mentioned. Maybe that could speak some senses into your mind. Even United States noted for War, saw war and ran for it. If not they would have intervened in the Syrian issue by now.
We know Nigerian Leaders have failed and its inclusive of all leaders of the tribes or is Ike Ekweremadu not Igbo, Ngozi, Iweajela, or the late Okadigbo etc.? So why are you all talking as if breaking up is what will resolve this issues. Even youths of today, be it Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa, how many of you can boast of a true leadership if given the opportunity?
See, the bottomline line is for us to come together as one and find a lasting solution. For youths whom I believe should know better to rise up and revolt. Chase all these rotten leaders away. It was youth that started the revolution that sparked in Egypt. I know of a young leader that left his high paying job at Google and using his I.T. skills empowered youth to rally round and chase out the dictator. Ofcourse we saw the result, now they are free.
Fellow Nigerians, go and learn from the past, never join them in beating the drums of war or breakups for when all chips are down, I bet none of those ranting breakup! Breakup!! Has the liver.
God bless Nigeria

We d igbos hv to take d bull by d horn nw. Our leaders r manipulated by their colonial masters, yoruba and hausa hv been gd boys and loyal to them.so we hv to lnw that it will be a fo or die afair. We should be ready to loss lives together, spend together, and fight our inborn disease which is greed and betrayal. Igbo man can sell or sabotage his brothers for just naira and suffer for d rest of his life. Example: look at hw bloody a common election is right from councilor to governor in d eastern region compared to d north and west. Again look at d rate of killing involved in our eastern universities in d name lf secret cult. D most anoying is dat majority of the problems r caused by a woman's pant. Look at wat happened in igbenidion university. Ekpoma, imsu, absu, unn, uniport, calaba, etc. Now wether u r ayee, apache, bam boy, pc, eyee, kk, aroo, dee gbam, dem mama soldier, militant. Etc. We need to prove our bravery and ruggelity Now!!!!. Am not encouraging secrete cult bit dats where and what all our xtian youths could boost of. Let them come together and protect their families rather than killing each other. I rest my case here for now. BE WISE.
ReplyDeleteIf all former British Colonies became Independent Countries, then pre-1906 LAGOS Colony (& its western cities), SOUTHERN NIG Protectorate (mainly South East Nig) and NORTHERN NIG Protectorate would have been 3 separate countries by now if not for the forceful merger in 1914 of the North & South by the British -without consulting the people whether they wish to be merged under a deceptive One Nigeria.
ReplyDeletePainfully, the British motive for the merger was to offset their budget deficit of running Northern Nig Protectorate with the surplus budget in the South & install one British Gov-General to rule over 3 former British colonies under One Nigeria thereby cutting British colonial losses by any means necessary.
Immediately after independence in 1960, a sovereign National Conference across the 3 regions would have been appropriate (by independent free peopple)to address all the cultural, religious, regional and social differences …only for young military officials (in 1966) to murder the Nig PM , 2 regional premiers & then get betrayed by their own Igbo General-GOC & the rest is now BIAFRA (or should I say history).

@ Adeyinka Fadehan and Anonymous July 11, 2012 6:59 Pm above, may God bless you. Y'all made lots of senses.
ReplyDeleteAll am saying is to ur tents o! Isreal!!! Instead of fighting for biafra y nt xtians come together and fight. Dis is a political religeous masacre and hv nothing to do with biafra. Since d western eastern south south hv d same religeous belief let them team up and fuck d muslem bastards up. We can never be conpatible with the north at all. Cos they r cows.
ReplyDeleteassuming the break up happened, how many states are they capturing, what about the christians in the north, where do i go when my father is from the west and my mother is from the east, what will be the compesation to the americans,do you think there wont be any intra division amongst the igbos.i want quick response to these questions before i can reason along with you.look before you leap, a word is enough for the wise
ReplyDeleteI guarantee you that the minute you get biafra, you will still have in-fighting among yourselves that the so called biafra will either implode of brake up into many micro states. Ibos are so disunited that the Nigerian nation is the only hope they have of being refered to as an ethnic group. You never solve a pronlem by running away from it. You will only run away from Nigeria only to meet the same problem in Biafra. Stop kidding yourselves and start looking for solution to the Nigerian problem
ReplyDeleteGuy listen d only yastic for rational division is on religeous ground. R there not afghanis in america while america is busy sortimg them out in their country. D xtians in d north have tbeir human right of freedom of worship. Then if hausa muslems start killing their brothers in their coumtry and not igbos or yorubas in thier country: it means the un will intercid on their behalf cos of human right violetion. As an american i domt knw what i going to d north to do all d way from us??? Go and live wherever u r accepted.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid, cos Igbos do not have the liver, I mean even among ourselves we do not trust and believe in each other. We Igbos can not stand together. How many Igbo Senate President did we have during the last tenure of Obasonjo, were they not 5.Compare them with the Speaker of the House of Reps. Biafara my f...................
ReplyDeletethere are different ethinic groups in nigeria and is it now half a century we have being together all these years we cannot do without each other all we need to do is to look for a possible means of promoting our economy not by division another issue on ground is that every nigerian is looking for what nigeria will do for him or her not finding any means of promoting nigerian economy america as a nation has different cultures but still united but the factor of american's unity is education when u get to the northern part of nigeria , u see good number of uneducated people and the problem in this country is not caused by only one group but everybody is involve (POLITICS) .any thing called war /division in this country ,sudan will be better than us,even the rich will carry there families and ran out of country the poor will kill themselves,at the end of the day ,they come back and start ruling again . all we need is to start now and think of what to do with your idleness not to plan for division cos it is not easy to divide a nation those people u are seeking there support would want to sell or test there arminations, explore our resources and use it to promote there own economy we have gone along way in terms of unity let us plan ourselves for a better nija aka united states of africa we are almost to our promise land i know dat defore democracy will last for 30yrs will get things fixed not by division good politicians are coming up rapidly i see a change soon
ReplyDeletemay Jesus come and solve all our problems. when Jesus comes into this case he will solve all our
ReplyDeletethose problems.
Biafra.God please decide which way
ReplyDeleteIndeed the igbo leaders are brainless for how can they have forgotten so soon they tragedy that befell them when thier ill concieved idea was shattered right before thier eyes. Their first failure was not because they lack the will but because they lack the inteligensia, the foresight, the plan and ofcourse the capacity. A wise man says you cannot think more than the capacity of your brain and now i can see the path chosen by the brain drained idiots called Igbos, the path of destruction. Challenging a nation of 160 million must be backed by a large army with large resources; All Igbos most realized that a move to break the nation may not be a bad idea at all if it must succeed, but it may more than be a sore thought should it fail after its lauch. Aside the millions that will die, the Igbo nation may possibly be wiped and the scattered kindred that may remain may have to live the remainder of thier lives in slavery or exile. Embrace peace Ndigbo or thrive the path of destruction.
